Amid the scorching heat of May, the melon fields are covered in a vast green color on the hillside of Vuc Mau 2 Lake (Tan Thang Commune, Quynh Luu District) and are in full harvest season, with people gathering to harvest. Photo: PV From early morning, Mr. Nguyen Duc Canh in Nam Viet hamlet, Tan Thang commune mobilized workers to go to the field to harvest melons. On hot days, harvesting early helps the melons retain their freshness and quality. Photo: TP The plump, main-season melon is considered a “cooling” fruit on hot summer days. With a weight of 3 fruits/kg, each sao of melon yields nearly 400 kg, bringing a significant source of income to people in the color zone. Photo: TP Carrying melons from the fields to the shore in the heat of over 39 degrees Celsius is hard work, but people are still full of enthusiasm because melons have a good harvest and good prices. Photo: TP Right next to the fields, clean water tanks are prepared to wash each melon. Processing in the fields not only helps the melons retain their freshness but also meets the demand for quick consumption during the hot season. Photo: TP In Thuong Tan Loc commune (Nam Dan), watermelons have also entered the harvest season. Although the weather at the beginning of the season was unfavorable and the yield decreased, the price increased, helping people to ease their worries after a challenging season. The area for growing melons of all kinds in the commune this year has expanded to 230 hectares, with many households earning a profit of 8-10 million VND/sao after deducting expenses. Photo: TP Melons – a soft, fragrant and sweet fruit – also take advantage of the sun in Nghi Thach and Nghi Long communes (Nghi Loc) and Nghi Huong ward (Vinh city). People wake up early and rush to harvest before the sun reaches its peak. Photo: TP The crisp smiles of the melon growers under the sun seem to reflect a season of hard work. This year’s melons not only have a good harvest and good price, but also provide motivation for the next successful crop. Photo: TP
