As VietNamNet reported, recently there has been a phenomenon of a series of Vietnamese artists such as People's Artist Lan Huong, People's Artist Thu Ha, Meritorious Artist Viet Anh, Meritorious Artist Nguyet Hang, actors Doan Quoc Dam, Luong Thanh, singer Duy Manh, MC Thanh Bach... rushing to advertise feng shui eyebrows.

It is worth mentioning that many artists advertise this service with unfounded claims. For example, Doan Quoc Dam said that eyebrow tattooing helps "change your fate, attract wealth and luck". Meritorious Artist Viet Anh also affirmed that after getting his eyebrows done, "his love life is smooth, he always feels happy, and he doesn't argue with his girlfriend".

Speaking to reporters, lawyer Le Kim Xuyen - Tran Ba Hoc Law Firm - stated that the above advertisements show signs of violating the 2012 Advertising Law, specifically Clauses 9 and 11, Article 8 of this law.

Accordingly, the law does not allow false or misleading advertising about the business capacity, the ability to provide products, goods, and services of organizations and individuals trading in products, goods, and services; about the quantity, quality, price, uses, design, packaging, brand, origin, type, service method, warranty period of registered or announced products, goods, and services.

Advertisements using the words "best", "only", "best", "number one" or words with similar meanings (such as: "Top 1 Vietnam", "exclusive", "advised in detail by the most knowledgeable fortune teller"... in the above advertisements - PV) without legal documents to prove according to the regulations of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are also prohibited.

"Advertising activities related to cosmetic services are very susceptible to false advertising, causing confusion for consumers. Whether the mistake is intentional or unintentional, whether they receive compensation or not, artists must still be responsible for their actions," she said.

Next, the fact that the promotional videos contain content such as: "Feng Shui eyebrow tattooing helps to change one's fate, attract wealth and luck"; "After getting eyebrows done, work and projects are smooth and favorable"; "Eyebrows help love life go smoothly, always feel happy, no arguments with girlfriend"... shows signs of promoting superstition.

According to lawyer Xuyen, current law does not have specific regulations on superstition, but based on Clause 1, Article 2 of the 2016 Law on Belief and Religion on the concept of "belief", superstition can be understood as believing in vague things that are not in accordance with natural reason, leading to consequences for individuals, families, and communities regarding health, time, property, and life.

Thus, the advertisements of artists for cosmetic services to help "change one's fate, attract wealth, and bring good luck"... are content that has not been scientifically verified, is vague, inconsistent with nature, and can easily lead to the consequences of losing both money and health.

To avoid violating the law as well as protecting their reputation, based on Article 14 of the 2012 Advertising Law, lawyers recommend that celebrities pay attention to checking documents related to advertising conditions of organizations, individuals, products, goods, and services that need to be advertised; carefully study or consult a lawyer to clearly understand the legal regulations on advertising, especially regulations on prohibited acts in advertising activities.

"Strictly regulating the terms in the advertising contract regarding the responsibility of the party providing information about the advertised product and technical terms in the beauty industry will help avoid the swapping of concepts and exaggeration of effects. In addition, be ready to provide documents related to the advertised product when requested by the advertising recipient or competent authority," she said.

According to the reporter's records, after VietNamNet's article reflected, the advertising videos of cosmetic services of artists such as Lan Huong, Thu Ha, Viet Anh... on social networks suddenly "disappeared" in series and are currently inaccessible.
