People's Artist Quoc Anh is not only a veteran Cheo artist, he is also very talented in other theatrical genres, especially comedy, Tet comedy. He often plays the role of village chief, greedy district mandarin, womanizer. People's Artist Quoc Anh's wit and charm capture the hearts of fans.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, People's Artist Quoc Anh said that this year he participated in the films "Spring Promise" and "Tet Tu De" with different colors. The film "Spring Promise" depicts the image of a border guard soldier, he plays the role of a "boss" debt collector.

"I played a villain, but when my child had an accident and was saved by the border guards and the people, my character turned to good. This is also the meaning of the film," said artist Quoc Anh.

When asked: "Recently, some people think that you are picky about scripts and only make films for fun, not for money. Is that true?"

The male artist said he is just a person who makes enough to eat and spend. He is not a tycoon, but after decades of working, he has saved a little bit so he has a certain amount of money and does not have to worry much.

"I don't have any secret funds, I only have a little money in the bank, I don't invest in real estate. I give my performance fee to my wife to spend on food and drink. She is smart so I always feel satisfied," Quoc Anh said.

The male artist said that after more than 20 years of being together with his current wife, he always respects his other half's opinions.

"I'm often said to be picky, but I like my house to be clean, and she also cleans the house regularly. We've been together for a long time, so we gradually get along and don't put up with each other," People's Artist Quoc Anh honestly said.

Quoc Anh said that when it comes to food, he is a relaxed person. He likes to eat tofu with salt and pepper and can eat this dish all week.

He shared: "It's not that I lack money, it's just a habit. I also don't like living in a villa, I only like living in an apartment. My house is 150 square meters wide, so my wife and I are quite comfortable. Sometimes when our children and grandchildren come over, we're happy...".

Talking about his relationship with his wife's stepchildren, People's Artist Quoc Anh confided that he became attached to his other half when his wife had two children from a previous marriage. Even though they did not have any children together, he always considered his wife's children as his own.

"My wife's children and I have a very good relationship. My eldest son works in the police force, and my daughter works near home. I believe that love cannot be forced, life is about giving and receiving. Children must love their biological father first. If you love your biological father 10 parts, but if you live well with your children, they will love you 7 or 8 parts," said People's Artist Quoc Anh.

People's Artist Quoc Anh said that at the age of nearly 70, he is still noticed by many people of the opposite sex, but he always knows where he stands.

"Many people invited me out for drinks and sent me romantic messages. They were of different ages, from 40 to 50 years old, but I refused them all. Although I specialize in playing the roles of flirtatious district officials, in real life, I am a neat and serious person, so my wife has no chance to be jealous," he added.

The male artist added: "I am an optimist and do not allow myself to say "if only", at this age there is not enough time to correct mistakes. Therefore, when doing anything, I have to think carefully to keep my family happy."

Talking about his family's Tet holiday , Quoc Anh said he is a simple person so the decoration and shopping are also light. He does everything with his heart.

"I like traditional Tet. The more developed society is, the more we must preserve the cultural essence. Especially the habit of visiting each other on Tet. The whole year is busy and hard, Tet is more relaxing, we should visit and encourage each other," the male artist expressed.

People's Artist Quoc Anh loves to eat banh chung and nem ran during Tet. "I still remember the taste of crispy rice paper wrapped around spring rolls during the subsidy period, fried in lard, I remember it forever after eating it once. But now I can't find it, or I was so hungry that I found everything delicious. Once I asked my wife to make the same ingredients as back then, but it didn't taste like what I used to eat...", he said.

The male artist said that he remembers the most the Tet holiday of 1981. That year, when he went to perform for the people in the border area, when he returned to Bac Quang market ( Bac Giang ), he saw delicious oranges but did not have enough money to buy them.

Remembering the taste of Tet in the past, the male artist also felt sad about the traditional values that are gradually disappearing.

"I used to recite the poem Ông đồ by Vũ Đình Liên, so every time I see this song on TV, I feel very moved. Tet comes, Spring returns in the warmth of each family, but there are also regrets when traditional values are increasingly fading away. I think the next generations need to preserve and spread those values more," People's Artist Quốc Anh shared.
