Tan Cang - Cai Mep port cluster is located near the Thi Vai - Cai Mep river junction, 18 nautical miles from Vung Tau pilot station, the shipping channel has a depth of minus 15.5 meters, the depth of the port area is minus 16.8 meters.
Saigon Newport Corporation is managing and operating 3 ports, including: Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Port (TCIT), Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai Port (TCTT) and Tan Cang - Cai Mep Port (TCCT) with a yard area of 108 hectares and nearly 1,500 meters of wharf capable of receiving 3 mother ships with a capacity of 14,000 Teu at the same time, along with a system of modern equipment, professionally trained, high-quality human resources, ready to meet the needs of customers and major shipping lines in the world, with throughput accounting for nearly 60% in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area.

With its favorable geographical location, Tan Cang - Cai Mep port cluster is a national gateway and a very convenient transit point for goods traded directly between Vietnam and countries around the world, especially Vietnam's main import and export markets in America, Europe and Asia, contributing significantly to connecting and promoting import and export activities and economic development of the whole country.
In 2023, despite many difficulties, Saigon Newport Corporation had a container throughput of 9.75 million TEUs, equivalent to nearly 140 million tons of goods, an increase of nearly 1% (accounting for 56.8% of the country, 89.5% of the market share in Ho Chi Minh City). Tan Cang - Cai Mep port cluster alone recorded a growth of 10% with a throughput of more than 2.7 million TEUs, accounting for 55% of the market share of the output through Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water container port cluster.
TCIT Port, during its 15-year journey of formation and development, has become the deep-water container port with the largest throughput in Vietnam, the second largest after Tan Cang - Cat Lai Port and holds the No. 1 position in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster with nearly 50% market share since its operation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that 2023 has passed, in the context of many difficulties and complexities in the world, Vietnam has still achieved important achievements in all fields. In that common achievement, there are contributions from the Vietnam People's Army and units under the Ministry of National Defense such as Saigon Newport Corporation.
Stating that Vietnam is promoting the development of the marine economy, striving to turn Vietnam into a strong maritime nation by 2030, in which the maritime economy is given priority for development, ranking second among the six marine economic sectors, the Prime Minister said that the task of the Transport sector, including Saigon Newport Corporation, is very large and must perform this task well.
Along with that, Vietnam is promoting the implementation of 3 strategic breakthroughs, including a breakthrough in transport infrastructure, so the Corporation must participate in developing seaports to connect inland waterway ports with major international ports in our country; must support localities where the unit's seaports are located to develop better logistics, contributing to improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods, especially agricultural products.
The Prime Minister also requested Saigon Newport Corporation to contribute to the modernization of seaports and inland waterway ports; to green and digitally transform ports based on science and technology, innovation to build smart ports, contributing to the circular economy, sharing economy, and knowledge economy.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Vietnam has import and export relations with more than 60 major markets in the world under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), so the volume of import and export goods transportation is very large, so the unit must contribute to ensuring smooth flow of goods, benefiting the Vietnamese people; building a team of high-quality cadres, not only for the unit but also for other units; building a clean and strong Party organization, improving the capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization and member units; actively participating in the fight against negativity and corruption.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested central ministries, branches and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to support Saigon Newport Corporation in building a smart, modern, bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe and affectionate Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Port.
The Prime Minister stated that 2024 is forecasted to have more difficulties and challenges than opportunities and advantages, but Saigon Newport Corporation must set a goal of stronger growth than last year, reduce logistics costs, create more competitiveness for Vietnamese goods in the international market, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country in general as well as the heroic Vietnam People's Army.
