Female editor's statement causes outrage
Specifically, on April 19, netizens spread a post shared by the account @hongday***, posted on the social network Thread with the content complaining about the parade practice causing traffic jams and congestion. This account wrote: "Thank you for the parade, the march. Thanks to that, instead of 45 minutes from District 12 to District 7, now it takes an hour and a half and we're still inching along the street. As someone born and raised in Saigon, I'm not happy, not excited, just proud. Very annoying."
Immediately after being posted, the article by the account @hongday*** received strong reactions from netizens. Some people quickly found the information of the account owner, who is said to be editor BH, working at the SCTV4 television channel. This made netizens even more indignant, believing that the female editor had negative thoughts and distorted statements, especially in the context of the whole country looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification. Many people strongly criticized, saying that BH's statements were not in line with the standards and role of an editor of the television channel.
After the controversy, BH deleted her post. In addition, she also locked all her social media accounts. However, her outrageous statement still spread across online forums. Netizens even flooded the SCTV channel's fanpage to leave a series of "angry" emoticons as well as many critical comments, demanding that the unit take action against the female editor.
We contacted SCTV channel - the unit BH is working for. The representative of this unit responded: "Regarding this matter, the company's leaders have temporarily suspended programs related to MC BH until further instructions are given."
On the evening of April 18, a parade and military parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification took place. Many central roads were announced to restrict traffic, prohibiting stopping and parking from 6pm to 8pm. Then, from 8pm to 1am on April 19, traffic was banned, both people and vehicles.
