Phung Thi Anh has Nung parents, born and raised in Quang Bi village, An Son commune, Van Quan district, Lang Son province. Although the local Nung community still has prejudices that girls do not need high degrees and should get married early and have children, Anh was encouraged and supported by her parents to pursue her education.
After graduating from junior high school, Anh was admitted to Lang Son Province's Ethnic Boarding High School. Here, Anh achieved many outstanding academic achievements. The female student took the Chemistry excellent student exam from grade 10.
In grade 11, Anh took the 12th grade excellent student exam and won third prize at the provincial level. She continued to be selected for the national chemistry team and was honored by the Odon Valet scholarship fund of Professor Tran Thanh Van in 2023.
Not only does she love Chemistry, Anh also has another passion: Chinese. This female student does not consider Chinese as a subject but as a necessary asset to pursue other learning goals.
While in grade 12, Anh successfully conquered the HSK 5 certificate thanks to self-study for more than a year with a high score of 241/300. These achievements contributed to helping her become a student at the Diplomatic Academy, just like her dream.
Talking about her secret to studying, Anh revealed that it is hard work and self-study. At the age of 15, she left home to go to boarding school, without her parents to look after her, students like Anh must have a high sense of discipline to follow the school curriculum.
Normally, Anh spends 6-8 hours studying by herself every day. She wakes up at 5:30 to review her lessons before going to class. After her regular morning classes, Anh will study by herself for 3 hours in the afternoon. Her evening self-study time also lasts 3-3.5 hours, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
After this time, Anh will continue studying HSK until about 1am before going to bed. Although she only sleeps 4-5 hours a night, Anh said she does not feel tired or stressed because she is used to this lifestyle. The female student said that her friends all study at the same intensity.
"To be able to get into a good university in the country, we have no other choice but to work hard and make an effort," Anh shared.
Currently, Phung Thi Anh is a first-year student majoring in International Communications at the Diplomatic Academy. This female student aims to become a good international communications specialist.
I also have another dream of being able to carry out projects to promote the image of my hometown Lang Son to attract investment and develop tourism , worthy of the existing values and potentials of the province.
At the same time, this female student wants to connect and support local people to start businesses, especially people in the community where she was born and raised.
