In recent days, many tourists swimming in the Back Beach area of Vung Tau ward, Ho Chi Minh City have shared images of the sea water with a strange blue color like green.

Mr. Ho Tinh, a tourist who came to swim on October 25, said he was surprised to see the unusually blue waves.
The guest even compared the blue color of the sea water to a matcha latte (a drink made from Japanese matcha green tea powder mixed with hot milk). However, he still swam in the sea as usual and did not see any strange phenomenon.
It is known that the phenomenon occurred at some sections of Bai Sau beach. The water was murky green and the sea surface had tiny floating patches. Similarly, in Phuoc Hai area and some other places, the same blue sea water situation also appeared.

However, on many Vung Tau tourism groups, many posts expressed concerns about the unusual water color. Some people even questioned whether the water was polluted or safe for swimming.
Explaining the strange sea water color phenomenon, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Pham Khac To, Director of the Center for Culture, Information , Sports and Tourism of Vung Tau ward, said that in fact, this is an algae bloom phenomenon that occurs every year.
This phenomenon is caused by moss or algae growing strongly in a short period of time, affecting the color of the water. However, this condition usually only lasts a few days, a maximum of about a week, and then disappears on its own. After that, the sea water will return to its normal color as before.
"When seaweed grows in excessive quantities in a short period of time, the higher density will make the water darker in color," Mr. To informed.
This leader commented that this situation does not affect the health of the people and tourists when swimming in the sea. Therefore, tourists can still swim normally, without worrying too much.
According to Mr. To, on the afternoon of October 27, the sea water was less dark blue than before. To ensure that people can enjoy and swim in the sea, the lifeguards and beach managers remained on duty regularly. The staff also explained and reassured visitors when they had questions about the phenomenon of the sea water changing color.
