Aquaculture along Cai Lon river

Mr. Duong Van Nhi, residing in Bo Dua hamlet, Vinh Hoa commune, has implemented a model of utilizing the water surface along Cai Lon river for aquaculture with high efficiency.

With a total area of ^{​​2,000m2} and a scale of 26 net cages, Mr. Nhi raises hybrid catfish, perch, snakehead fish, and tilapia. Mr. Nhi said: "After more than 4 months of raising, I harvested 6 cages of hybrid catfish, earning 758 million VND, after deducting expenses, the profit was 338 million VND".

Mr. Nhi also uses fish by-products from his seafood processing facility to make fish feed, helping to reduce investment costs. Currently, snakehead fish, tilapia, and perch have not reached harvest time but are growing well.

Mr. Nhi's model of utilizing the water surface along the Cai Lon River for aquaculture is economically effective and can be replicated. The model helps diversify aquaculture types, contributes to protecting aquatic resources, and serves as a basis for specialized agencies to collect information, evaluate, and build aquaculture models and projects in the future.
