Vietnam Education Publishing House signs cooperation agreement with Cuba's Ministry of Higher Education

This event marks the promotion and enhancement of cooperation between NXBGDVN and the Cuban Ministry of HigherEducation .

Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the Vietnam Education Publishing House, there were Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Members, General Director; Mr. Pham Vinh Thai - Member of the Board of Members, Editor-in-Chief; Mr. Pham Van Thang - Member of the Board of Members; Mr. Nguyen Van Tung - Member of the Board of Members, Deputy Editor-in-Chief; Deputy General Directors: Mr. Nguyen Chi Binh, Ms. Phung Ngoc Hong, Mr. Dang Thanh Hai; and representatives of relevant departments and professional offices.

On the side of the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education, there were Mr. Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar, Deputy Minister; Ms. Iliana Martinez, Director of the Department of International Cooperation.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam, including Mr. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam; Ms. Maylem Rivero Silva, Minister Counselor in charge of the Economic and Commercial Office and several other members of the delegation.

Representatives of the leaders of the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education, together with the participation of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam, attended the signing ceremony.

The signing ceremony of cooperation between the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education aims to promote and strengthen cooperation in the field of publishing, printing books and developing reading culture on the basis of the principles of equality and mutual benefit; with the goal of developing comprehensive cooperation and further strengthening the close friendship between the two countries.

According to the agreement, the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education will exchange information and share experiences in areas of mutual interest; provide advice to experts and technicians of higher education publishers in Cuba and Vietnam; develop and implement joint cooperation programs and projects; participate in conferences, seminars, forums and events organized by each side; edit and print publications with appropriate content, etc.

Within the framework of the 2026 Universidad International Congress, the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education respectfully invites the Vietnam Education Publishing House to participate as a book exhibitor. At the same time, at the request of the Cuban side, the Vietnam Education Publishing House will organize the editing and printing of two books to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education and the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz. These books will be published in two languages: Spanish and Vietnamese.

The Cuban Ministry of Higher Education will provide the manuscripts and copyrights of the books.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of the Vietnam Education Publishing House, shared that in addition to activities in publishing educational books and other books, throughout its history, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has implemented many cooperative activities, supporting international friends in a practical and effective way, especially in the fields of publishing, printing, distributing, and producing educational books and equipment.

"For Cuba - a country with a special friendship with Vietnam, we always cherish the historical feelings of the two countries; remember and deeply appreciate the help of the Cuban people and country for Vietnam during the most difficult periods of resistance. Therefore, helping, cooperating and supporting Cuba is not only a responsibility and obligation but also comes from the heart and gratitude of the Vietnam Education Publishing House towards the Cuban people...", said Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh.

A good start for effective cooperation between NXBGDVN and the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education

Mr. Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar, Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Cuba, spoke at the ceremony.

In his speech, Mr. Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar - Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Cuba also emphasized: 2025 is the year of greater participation and responsibility of the Cuban education sector in training human resources for the country's economic development. The university system in Cuba consists of 50 schools with about 250,000 students, so the amount of educational books used in Cuba is very large.

"However, Cuba's current economic situation is very difficult, and the Cuban University Publishing House has lost the ability to print books for the education sector. Therefore, we have great confidence in the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba in editing, printing, and consulting support in the education sector...", Mr. Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar shared.

On behalf of the delegation, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Cuba also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the warm welcome and support of the Vietnam Education Publishing House for Cuba. He believed that the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two sides would be a good start for long-term and effective cooperation between the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education.

The representative of the Vietnam Education Publishing House believes that this cooperation will be a premise for development in the field of publishing and the development of reading culture between Vietnam and Cuba.

Previously, in Havana, from February 22 to 26, 2025, a delegation of officials from the Vietnam Education Publishing House led by Chairman of the Board of Members and General Director Nguyen Tien Thanh visited and worked in Cuba, aiming to strengthen cooperation in the publishing field between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba.

During this working trip, NXBGDVN presented 30 tablets to the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education. The gift also represents the affection and heart of NXBGDVN to Cuban friends.
