Student Truong Thanh Tra (8th grade, Hoa Hoi Primary and Secondary School, Phu Hoa District) wrote a letter to Santa Claus: "You know, I am on the Literature team of that school!
I know I should read more books. And I found the book I wanted… But unfortunately, I don’t have enough money to buy it… I’m looking forward to your gift because I’m a good boy.”
Nguyen Hoang Gia Nghia (5th grade student, Phu Hoa district) wrote: "I live with my grandparents, my parents are divorced, my mother has a new husband, I wish my grandparents are healthy, I wish I have a set of Lego toys, I have money to study."
Luu Thanh Nguyen - permanent vice president of Phu Yen Firefly Charity Association - shared that the whole group was very moved when reading the children's letters. Each child has a different dream, but the common point is that most of them are in difficult circumstances.
“After reading the letters, we will fulfill the children's wishes. Each member of the group will be assigned to deliver gifts at locations in Phu Yen province,” Nguyen said.

The first sign that Santa Claus came was the house where Tran Nhat Uyen Chi (13 years old, Phu Thanh ward, Tuy Hoa city) and her four sisters lived with their grandparents. They still had not overcome the pain of losing both their parents in the fishing boat capsized at the end of November. The four Chi sisters were surprised to hear the music of “Jingle bells” from the alley and to see Santa Claus with their own eyes.
“We are so happy, we didn’t think Santa Claus would come here to give us gifts and cakes. This is the first time we have had such a happy Christmas. I don’t know what to say, I can only thank you for still remembering and caring for us,” Chi said.
Continuing the journey to Tuy Hoa city, the group stopped at the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen Ngoc (40 years old), mother of Dang Diem Kieu, to give gifts. Although her hands and feet are not as healthy as normal people, when she saw Santa Claus, Kieu's eyes lit up with joy, trying to sway to the music.
“The whole neighborhood goes to the beach, no one knows what Christmas is. Seeing the whole group come here to give gifts to my child makes me so happy. Although my child is not as healthy as other children, he also knows joy and sadness. Seeing him happy makes me happy too,” said Ms. Ngoc.
Mr. Le Thoai Ky – Chairman of Phu Yen Firefly Charity Association – said that the program “Firefly Santa Claus” and “Children’s Letters” are organized every Christmas. Regardless of the wishes of the children, the group will try to fulfill them. On the night of December 23, members will give gifts to about 20 children in localities in the province.
“We do not simply give gifts and fulfill children's dreams, but more importantly, we share so that they can have a warmer winter,” said Mr. Ky.
