After parting ways with Technical Director Yusuke Adachi, the Japan Football Federation has nominated Mr. Koshida Takeshi - who has more than 30 years of experience leading the national U22 and U18 youth teams with the VFF for the position of Technical Director of Vietnam Football.
The contract signing ceremony between VFF and Technical Director Koshida Takeshi was held on the morning of June 1, in Hanoi.
Born in 1960, Mr. Koshida Takeshi, had many years of dedication to Japanese football as a player, before moving to coaching since 1995. He held the position of head coach of the Ishikawa regional football team, Kanazawa school football team, Sakuragaoka; held the role of Technical Director of Zweigen Kanazawa Club - a team that played in the J-League from 2006 to 2010. Mr. Koshida Takeshi is often trusted by the Japan Football Federation to participate in national coach training courses at levels C, B, A.
As the Technical Director of VFF, Mr. Koshida Takeshi will be a lecturer at the Coach Training Courses and Seminars organized by VFF; coordinate with the professional department and coaches of VFF youth teams to jointly orient and train Vietnamese Youth Football, and be responsible for training human resources for Vietnamese Football, especially the system of young coaches and Technical Directors for clubs and football centers. In addition, Mr. Koshida Takeshi also has the role of coordinating, improving quality, updating international information as well as the most modern and advanced methods today so that Vietnamese Football can have a shorter approach to the development of international football.

Speaking at the ceremony, VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi highly appreciated and hoped that the new Japanese Technical Director with his experience and high qualifications will contribute to helping Vietnamese Football build the necessary foundations for sustainable development. With the work of training coaches, Mr. Koshida Takeshi's direct participation in teaching and training will contribute to improving qualifications, training coaches with good professional qualifications, ensuring the training work is in the right direction.
Mr. Koshida Takeshi expressed: “I feel very lucky and grateful to be the Technical Director of VFF. Vietnam is a dynamic country with a developed football industry, especially youth football. I hope I can contribute a small part to training coaches and young generations of Vietnamese football as well as fostering the goal of the Vietnamese team being able to participate in the final round of the 2026 World Cup or the 2030 World Cup. Coach Troussier and I had the opportunity to meet once last April. Fortunately, Mr. Troussier and I were arranged to live next to each other at the accommodation arranged by VFF. This will be a favorable condition for Mr. Troussier and I to exchange daily work, thereby helping me better understand my work with Vietnamese football”, said Mr. Koshida Takeshi.
The contract value and salary of Mr. Koshida Takeshi were not disclosed. According to VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu, the negotiation and signing of the contract with Mr. Koshida Takeshi went smoothly because VFF received maximum support from the Japan Football Federation.
