Presenting the appointment decisions to the two Deputy Directors, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien stated that although the Fisheries Inspection Department has only recently been separated and is now a unit directly under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, it has operated relatively professionally, especially in personnel management.
Fisheries inspectors currently have many tasks, but two important immediate and long-term tasks are to remove the IUU "yellow card" and to quickly coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement the Plan for the Protection and Exploitation of Aquatic Resources for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, which has been approved by the Government .

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien emphasized: “These two tasks are very important. For almost seven years, we have not been able to lift the IUU ‘yellow card,’ which greatly affects the image and reputation of Vietnamese fisheries internationally. At the same time, we must improve the conservation and protection of aquatic resources; if we fail to do this, the fisheries sector cannot develop sustainably.”
Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien congratulated the Fisheries Inspection Department and its Director on having additional leadership personnel to support their work. He also especially congratulated the two new Deputy Directors and expressed hope that specific assignments would be made soon so that the two new Deputy Directors could immediately begin their work.
