Yesterday (Vietnam time), US President-elect Donald Trump announced his nomination of Mr. Andrew Ferguson to hold the position of Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the independent agency against monopolies and unfair competition in this country, according to AFP.
In a move that signals the incoming administration’s priorities, Trump said Ferguson has proven himself to be a staunch opponent of Big Tech’s censorship. “At the FTC, we will end Big Tech’s hostility to competition and free speech,” Ferguson said after being nominated by Trump.

While the party is seen as more business-friendly than the Democrats, Republicans say their speech is being censored online by Big Tech. Trump also picked Gail Slater to lead the Justice Department ’s antitrust division, meaning she will take over the government’s legal battles with Amazon, Apple, Google and Meta (which owns Facebook). So Trump’s latest comments in this area could signal a potential conflict between Big Tech and the transitional US administration early next year.
