On the night of June 23, the Wagner mercenary group launched a major mutiny in Russia, seizing control of the Southern Military District headquarters and many other administrative and military locations in the city of Rostov-on-Don before advancing towards the capital Moscow.
However, just a day later, Wagner tycoon Yevgeny Prigozhin agreed to withdraw troops when they were only about 200 km from Moscow, defuse the biggest threat to President Vladimir Putin in nearly a quarter of his century in power.
In order to end the uprising, the Russian president personally assured Prigozhin that he would be allowed to leave for neighboring Belarus and that the authorities would drop criminal charges of rebellion against him and his fighters, according to the Kremlin.
Former US President Donald Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to warn: “Big mess in Russia, but be careful what you wish for. The next one could be much worse!”
In a post on Truth Social on June 24, Mr. Trump declared: “Mr. Biden will do anything President Xi of China wants him to do regarding Russia,” and also said that Russia and China were enemies “until Biden came along.”

Mr Trump also accused President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, of taking large sums of money from both Russia and China, but China is currently the bigger threat.
Trump's comments referred to alleged business dealings between Hunter Biden and Ukrainian and Chinese companies that are now under investigation amid allegations that President Biden was involved in a bribery scheme while he was vice president.
Mr. Trump also mentioned that China wants large areas of uninhabited land to make room for its growing population, arguing that an armed uprising in Russia would create an opportunity for China to seize Russian territory.
“This is an unprecedented opportunity for China, much bigger than Taiwan, that President Xi could have waited for,” Mr. Trump commented.
Mr Trump's comments came days after Mr Biden called Chinese President Xi Jinping a dictator. The remarks were vehemently rejected by the Chinese government , but Mr Biden dismissed concerns that US-China relations were deteriorating and said he expected to meet with Xi in the near future.
Mr. Trump once asserted that the Russia-Ukraine conflict would not have happened if he were President. He claimed that if he were re-elected and the war between Russia and Ukraine continued, he would be able to end the conflict in 24 hours .
