In Lao Cai , the 10th grade entrance exam will take place from June 4 to 6; the high school graduation exam for the 2024-2025 school year is also approaching, coinciding with the peak of the hot and stormy season. To ensure a stable power source, Lao Cai Power Company (PC Lao Cai) has implemented many synchronous solutions to serve both of these important tasks well.

Accordingly, from the beginning of the year, the Company has proactively developed and submitted for approval a plan to ensure electricity supply for 2025 - 2026, paying special attention to the times when the high school entrance exam takes place. Based on the approved plan, the affiliated units have been directed to complete all investment items for construction, renovation, and repair of the power grid, and a general review of equipment before June - the time when the 10th grade entrance exam takes place.

The company has developed a separate power supply plan for the exam, requiring each affiliated power unit to establish a detailed plan according to the area under their responsibility, ensuring proactiveness and high concentration; coordination witheducation departments and exam steering committees at all levels has been implemented synchronously, in order to thoroughly review the exam sites - from the areas where questions are created, printed, invigilated to graded. At the same time, power units also work with education departments of districts, towns and cities to grasp specific information about the time and location of the exam. Thereby, coordinating the implementation of appropriate technical solutions, including mobilizing backup generators at some key exam sites, to ensure stable power supply in all situations.

In addition, the operation and incident handling force is arranged to be on duty 24/24 hours during the entire exam period. Prepare a system of supplies, backup equipment, and mobile vehicles to ensure timely handling of any arising incidents. In particular, during the exam period, the company does not implement any power outage plans, except in cases of force majeure.

As for the High School Graduation Exam for the 2025-2026 school year, preparations are being implemented early with similar requirements, closely following the direction of the Lao Cai Provincial Exam Steering Committee.

Mr. Tran Thanh Duyet, Deputy Director of Lao Cai Electricity, said: Under the pressure of hot weather and soaring electricity demand, the Company has accelerated the progress of investment and repair of the power grid since the beginning of the year, with the goal of completing it before April 30. At the same time, the Company has developed plans for natural disaster prevention and control, emergency response, and coordination scenarios with authorities at all levels, especially the Department of Industry and Trade - the province's standing energy unit.

For industrial customers, the Company has worked with and guided businesses to develop flexible production plans, reserve raw materials and arrange production schedules since the fourth quarter of last year. This helps to minimize the impact if power supply has to be stopped or reduced.

One of the key solutions during the peak season is to increase propaganda on the use of electricity economically and efficiently. The company has promoted information on safe and economical use of electricity through newspapers, social networks, digital platforms such as Zalo, Facebook, etc. At the same time, it has coordinated to check the use of electricity in offices, urban lighting systems, and encouraged customers to invest in rooftop solar power systems to reduce pressure on the grid.

Notably, Lao Cai province has the advantage of being supplied with electricity from three sources: electricity purchased from China, local hydropower plants and the national grid, which helps increase operational flexibility. Over the years, the company has given maximum priority to household loads, not cutting off electricity to residents during peak seasons, only making adjustments for some industrial customers who have backup plans.

“The company is committed to ensuring stable, safe and continuous power supply to serve high school exams as well as production and daily needs during the hot season,” Mr. Tran Thanh Duyet emphasized.
