Breaking up a football betting ring during EURO season worth over 10 billion VND

On June 22, the Criminal Police Department of Quang Binh Province Police said that it had coordinated with Bo Trach District Police and many other units to successfully destroy a group of subjects gambling in the form of football betting via the Internet in the province.

Police force executed an emergency search warrant on Nguyen Xuan Hung in Van Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province.

The authorities arrested 6 subjects including: Nguyen Xuan Hung (born 1991), Nguyen Van Thuong (born 1979), Nguyen Van Hop (born 1975), Pham The Anh (born 1979), Nguyen Van Thong (born 1978) and Nguyen Van Trinh (born 1983), all residing in Bo Trach district.

The police initially determined that since the beginning of June 2024, Nguyen Xuan Hung managed and used a Master-level gambling account with the code J13E11 to gamble during EURO 2024.

Hung used a smartphone to log into gambling accounts through the bookmaker's websites, divided the accounts for gambling use, and gave them to other subjects to use for gambling. The total amount of gambling transactions through the accounts was more than 10 billion VND.

The Criminal Police Department of Quang Binh Province Police then summoned and worked with 20 subjects, and urgently searched the residences of two subjects, Nguyen Xuan Hung and Nguyen Van Thuong.

Through inspection and search, the authorities seized 15 mobile phones, computers, documents related to gambling activities and 70 million VND in cash.

Currently, the EURO football betting case is being continued to expand.
