Launching the 'Happy Vietnam' Award 2025

On May 22, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and Vietnam Television organized the launching ceremony of the annual human rights media award "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2025".

Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh launched the award.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh shared: "We have just gone through extremely heroic, emotional and meaningful days for the whole nation, days called "A50 Campaign", the 50th Anniversary of National Liberation and Reunification; or more "popularly" called "National Concert". The highlight of those days was the Anniversary in Ho Chi Minh City; but the happiness of being together in the sacred Anniversary of the nation and the country came from the previous days, when Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general joined in, finding happiness in both the great event of the nation, as well as in simple things like meeting and welcoming young soldiers from all over to Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the parade. That is happiness!

Let's start from this event, to turn to the story of how our country is now? Among 100 million Vietnamese people, what is each person's happiness? This contest is organized in a very special way, that is, the contestants can be anyone, as long as their work records a moment that they consider happy and submits it to the contest."

Also according to Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh: No matter from what perspective, or for whom, happiness must be closely linked to pride in the country and the nation. "We organize this Award so that everyone can realize once again that they possess happiness, which they may not even know is happiness. Because many international friends that I have met say that Vietnam has something that many other nations are longing for but do not have: Peace , independence and peace in life. Currently, we have the leading growth rate in the region, in 2024 it is 7.06%, but we still cannot be satisfied with this result, because we are striving to follow Uncle Ho's wish to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers. If we are satisfied with the present, we will never become a great power, if we keep stumbling, at some point, we will fall into the middle-income trap. Therefore, our Party is determined to grow even higher, which means that the happiness we have now is already very good, but we will continue to strive together to bring more sustainable happiness. more, greater. Happiness is already there, but we have to raise that happiness even higher...".

Along with that, happiness must also be associated with gratitude to those who fell for national independence, so that each of us can have the happiness of today. "In the common joy, in encountering moments of happiness somewhere, we, through this contest, also need to raise a sense of gratitude, like the lyrics of a national song: "Our ancestors fell in the past so that today...". Or the song of gratitude "Our ancestors fell to bring peace to the country, to bring laughter everywhere...". The feeling of gratitude is also an extremely precious feeling of every person living in this life, gratitude to the country for giving us moments to laugh, gratitude to the Party for leading our country. Our Party has only one goal, as Uncle Ho said, a single goal, which is for the happiness of the people. And General Secretary To Lam also reiterated: All actions must be directed towards the people, serving the people is consistent, gratitude to those who have fallen and gratitude to those around us".

According to Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh, happiness is not a destination, but a journey. Similarly, this Award is not only aimed at the Award Ceremony, but importantly, how to have a successful process. "I hope that the reporters present here will help spread the whole process from the Launching Ceremony to the Award Ceremony, a process that arouses pride, gratitude and the search for happy moments, easily, somewhere around us", Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh emphasized.

The sharing of Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh is also the orientation of the contest. According to the Organizing Committee, in 2025, Vietnam will make great strides in the happiness index, rising to 46th place in the world, up 8 places compared to 2024 and 19 places compared to 2023. This is an important milestone, demonstrating the world's recognition and appreciation of Vietnam's policies and achievements in ensuring human rights in recent years.

In that spirit, the Award is organized with the aim of mobilizing the participation of the people in the country, overseas Vietnamese and international friends in creating photos, videos or having creative ideas, telling good stories, meaningful discoveries on the topic of happy Vietnam, thereby contributing to spreading positive images of the country, Vietnamese people, the precious cultural and historical traditions of the nation or the achievements of socio-economic development of the country to the public at home and abroad, contributing to enhancing the prestige and position of the country in the international arena.

Through the Award, the Organizing Committee wants to convey the message that Vietnam is moving rapidly and developing strongly and comprehensively in all fields: Breakthrough in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation; proactively integrating deeply into the international community in the new situation; comprehensively innovating the work of building and enforcing laws; developing a fast, sustainable, effective and high-quality private economy.

“Happy Vietnam” is a human rights media award in Vietnam organized annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is a popular award for authors, both professional and non-professional, Vietnamese and foreigners, at home or abroad, can participate. In 2025, the award will be held for the third time, launched nationwide, to attract the participation of a large number of authors across the country.

Contestants: Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over. Members of the Organizing Committee, Jury, Secretariat, and Communications Committee are not allowed to participate in the contest.

The award consists of 2 categories: Photo and video. The work must be created from January 1, 2023 to the time of receipt.

The photo entries have never won any awards or been selected for exhibition at regional, national, or international awards organized and coordinated by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
