The sequel to “My Sweet Orange Tree” called “Heating the Sun” has set a new record in the Vietnamese publishing industry, with the fastest reprint speed, just one night after the book was released on July 28.

“My Sweet Orange Tree” by Jose Mauro de Vansconcelos (Brazil) tells the story of the difficult childhood of Zezé, a mischievous, hyperactive but affectionate and extremely lovable 5-year-old boy. Zezé was born into a poor family with many children and suffered from a lack of everything. However, Zezé's spiritual world is extremely rich, with extremely rich and vivid imaginary friends, carrying the beliefs and aspirations of a child for a better life. Then Zezé also met a real friend in the flesh, bringing immense happiness to a poor child like him...
Author Jose Mauro de Vansconcelos (1920-1984) was born into a poor family in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. As an adult, he had to do many jobs to make a living. He had a natural talent for storytelling, an extraordinary memory, a great imagination and a rich life experience.
“My Sweet Orange Tree” was introduced to Vietnamese readers in 2020 and became a publishing phenomenon, with a circulation of more than 170 thousand copies to date, reprinted about 17 times. "My Sweet Orange Tree" quickly surpassed many other famous books and became one of Nha Nam's best-selling books.
The book is also on the list of Nha Nam's most pirated and counterfeited books, being sold sporadically in book clubs, groups, and forums until now.
“Warming the Sun” is the sequel to “My Sweet Orange Tree”, translated directly from Spanish by Dang Bao Kim, while the first part was translated from the English version.
“Warming the Sun” continues to follow the boy Zezé from the age of 11 to 15 in a new living environment, with the context of Brazil in the 1930s, a turbulent period.
Zezé, the mischievous and adorable boy of the past, has now escaped poverty and is no longer subjected to the constant beatings he suffered in the past. He has moved to Natal to live with his foster father’s family, attends a good school, and gradually improves both intellectually and physically. But the pain of loss still weighs heavily on his heart and Zezé remains a boy who is “almost always sad”, even “probably one of the saddest boys on earth”.
But, fortunately, Zezé found new friends - both real and imaginary - who always understood and stood by him, going through all the joys and sorrows, the sufferings, the disappointments, the adventures, helping him to dialogue with the colorful life, with the conflicted inner self and at the same time with the deep sadness in his soul.
Deep, haunting and sometimes heartbreakingly sad, but at the same time, "Warming the Sun" is also filled with youthful, pure breath, full of vitality and love.

“Heating the Sun” immediately after its release was announced, created a fever among readers. Many readers waited to go to the bookstore on the first day of release, to become the first people to hold the book in their hands.
The book also immediately became a new publishing phenomenon, when it was released with a quantity of 5,000 copies, it immediately sold out and was reprinted the very next day.
In the second reprint, “Heating the Sun” was printed in 10,000 copies, double the first edition, and was quickly sought after by readers.
On digital commerce platforms, “Heating the Sun” has also been sold in thousands of copies at official stores. Nha Nam’s store at Lazada alone has officially sold more than 5,300 copies of “Heating the Sun.”
The book became so popular that poor quality pirated copies began to appear, to the point that Nha Nam had to print a pirated book warning on the book in this second reprint.
The fact that “My Sweet Orange Tree” and “Heating the Sun” are selling well and being reprinted repeatedly shows new positive signs for the publishing industry, when books are still in tough competition with many other forms of entertainment. That proves that when a book truly touches the hearts of readers, it can stand out strongly in any competition.
