( Bqp.vn ) - On the afternoon of July 16, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and the National Humanitarian Information Portal, MB Charity App organized the Launching Ceremony of the Program "Joining hands to ease the pain of Agent Orange in 2024", with the theme "Lighting up the future".

Attending the launching ceremony were Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin; Director of the National Humanitarian Information Portal Do Thi Hoa; representatives of the Vietnam Information and Communications Trade Union; the Volunteer Platform Project Board, the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), VTC Multimedia Corporation; representatives of a number of agencies and organizations accompanying the program.

The chemical warfare conducted by the US in Vietnam from 1961 to 1971 exposed 4.8 million Vietnamese people, more than 3 million of whom were victims; many people suffered from serious illnesses, deformities, disabilities, and mental retardation; Agent Orange sequelae were passed on to the fourth generation, causing countless tragedies for generations of Vietnamese people. Despite the attention and support policies issued by the Party, the State, all levels, and sectors, most victims and families of Agent Orange victims still face many difficulties and deprivations both materially and spiritually. Many poor and sick circumstances have exhausted their families; therefore, sharing and assistance from the community are needed so that victims have the opportunity to receive health care, medical examination and treatment, improve their lives, overcome difficulties, and reintegrate into the community.

Continuing to implement Directive No. 43-CT/TW of the Central Party Secretariat "On strengthening the Party's leadership in dealing with the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam"; National Action Plan to overcome the consequences of toxic chemicals/dioxin after the war for the period 2021 - 2030; at the same time, with determination and efforts to accompany victims of Agent Orange across the country, the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in coordination with the National Humanitarian Electronic Information Portal, MB Charity App organized the Program "Joining hands to ease the pain of Agent Orange in 2024" to mobilize compatriots and soldiers nationwide to join hands and contribute to support the costs of medical examination and treatment, vocational training, construction and repair of charity houses, and giving gifts to poor and disadvantaged victims of Agent Orange across the country.

In 2023, the texting program "Join hands to ease the pain of Agent Orange" collected a total of more than 2 billion 141 million VND, along with the unallocated amount transferred from 2022 (more than 99.7 million VND). In 2023, more than 1 billion 638 million VND was allocated, including: Support for building 14 new houses with a total amount of 930 million VND; visiting and giving gifts directly to nearly 600 victims in 22 provinces and cities with a total amount of 568.5 million VND; supporting the care of victims at the Social Protection Center under the Central Association with more than 140 million VND. The unallocated amount in 2023 of more than 600 million VND was allocated by the Association and the Vietnam Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims Fund to victims nationwide in the first 6 months of 2024, according to the program's objectives.
In 2024, the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in collaboration with VTC Multimedia Corporation, National Humanitarian Electronic Information Portal, MB Charity App will launch a campaign to support victims of Agent Orange with the message "Light up the future", through 2 forms: Scan QR code/Transfer support to account number 1961 at MB Military Bank, account holder of the Vietnam Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims Fund or scan QR code to support via VTC e-wallet.
The program aims to raise over 2 billion VND. The money raised will be used to support medical examination, treatment, rehabilitation; support production capital, build new houses, repair houses, and support families of Agent Orange victims in especially difficult circumstances.
The Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, the National Humanitarian Information Portal 1400, the MB volunteer platform and agencies and units coordinate to implement the program calling on compatriots and soldiers nationwide, with responsibility and affection, to accompany and support the Program "Joining hands to ease the pain of Agent Orange in 2024".
