The management and organization of festivals in the province in recent times has had many positive changes, contributing to preserving cultural heritage values, meeting the cultural and religious needs of all classes of people, and connecting the community.
Preserving local cultural identity
Binh Long Ward is one of the localities with many relics, including 1 national historical relic, 3 provincial historical relics and 2 relics in the inventory list. Of which, 2 provincial relics are religious and belief establishments. The relics are religious and belief establishments that comply with the provisions of the Law on Belief and Religion, ensuring solemnity and civilization in organizing festivals.
According to Vice Chairman of Binh Long Ward People's Committee Tran Van Tuan, in the ward there is currently the Cau Bong Festival of Kinh people at Tan Lap Phu Communal House Relic which has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. To promote the value of traditional festivals, in 2023, Binh Long town (old) organized the Cau Bong Festival associated with the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Tan Lap Phu Communal House (1923-2023), creating a unique highlight, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate.
Dong Nai currently has 120 ranked relics (6 special national relics, 42 national relics, 72 provincial relics). Of these, 34 religious establishments are ranked by the State; 363 religious establishments are listed and inventoried. Many traditional festivals at relics and religious establishments are organized in accordance with regulations, ensuring solemnity, joy, healthiness and economy.
In addition to the Cau Bong Festival of the Kinh people, localities in Binh Long ward also focus on preserving a number of festivals, melodies, folk games, and traditional sports of ethnic minorities. At the same time, the locality also organizes the restoration and performance of dances, gongs, amateur music, etc. on national holidays and Tet, creating a rich cultural and artistic movement, spreading the spirit of solidarity among the people, arousing pride in the homeland of Binh Long in particular and Dong Nai in general.
In Binh Loc ward, every year, the ward People's Committee coordinates with departments, branches, organizations, and the Tran Hung Dao Temple Worship Committee (Xuan Thien quarter) to maintain the organization of the Tran Hung Dao Temple's death anniversary on the 20th day of the 8th lunar month. In addition, the locality coordinates with the Binh Loc Communal House Management Board (Ward 2) and the Nui Tung communal house to organize the Ky Yen Festival on the 15th day of the 12th lunar month (December 15th of the lunar calendar). Traditional festivals in Binh Loc ward are contributed by the people, maintaining annual activities. During the festival, there are no superstitious or commercial activities.
According to Vice Chairman of Xuan Phu Commune People's Committee Nguyen Trong Quang, in recent times, the locality has maintained the organization of many traditional festivals well such as: Sayangva Festival of the Choro people in Binh Hoa hamlet; periodic religious festivals at Quan Am temple of the Chinese and Tay people; Mid-Autumn Festival; National Great Unity Day... The festivals are organized solemnly, safely, economically, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere among the people, contributing to educating the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", the spirit of solidarity and national pride.
Identifying cultural development as the spiritual foundation of society, both the goal and the driving force for local socio-economic development, in the period of 2026-2030, Xuan Phu commune continues to maintain traditional customs, festivals, folk songs of Then singing, Sli singing, and local gongs; at the same time, integrating ethnic cultural elements into community activities. Thereby, forming a civilized lifestyle, building civilized, humane and affectionate Xuan Phu people.
Putting festival organization activities into order
Director of Dong Nai Museum Nguyen Ngoc Yen said: Dong Nai has many festivals listed in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List such as: Cau Bong Festival of Kinh people; Sayangva Festival of Choro people; Dua Tpeng Festival (Pha Bau) of Khmer people in Loc Hung commune, Ba Ra Temple Festival in Phuoc Long ward; Ong Pagoda Festival; Death anniversary of Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh (Tran Bien ward). In 2025, Dong Nai will build a dossier to propose recognition of Long Tong Festival (Xuong Dong) of Tay people in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
“In addition, Dong Nai Museum also cooperates with relevant units to publish many valuable publications and documentary films introducing relics, festivals, and traditional craft villages of ethnic groups living in the province. Thereby, introducing and promoting the local cultural heritage to domestic and foreign friends” - Ms. Yen shared.
Since the beginning of 2025, the cultural sector has regularly coordinated with units and localities to step up inspections of festival activities, relic preservation, security and order, and environmental sanitation at a number of ranked religious and belief establishments such as Dai Giac Pagoda, Ong Pagoda (That Phu Co Mieu), Long Thien Pagoda, Buu Phong Pagoda, Phu My Communal House, Phuoc Thien Communal House, etc. At the relics and religious establishments, the provisions of the law have been strictly complied with, and no violations have been detected during inspections.
In terms of state management, according to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the coming time, the industry will continue to promote propaganda to raise awareness of people and tourists in maintaining environmental hygiene and practicing civilized lifestyles at festivals. Along with that, strengthen inspection, examination and supervision before, during and after the festival; strongly mobilize social resources... These solutions not only contribute to ensuring civilization and safety but also create a ripple effect in the community, promote tourism development and make Dong Nai a unique cultural destination in the Southeast region.
