Accompanying the nation in the transformation

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh emphasized that over the years, the Party and the State have always paid attention to and affirmed the important position and role of literature and arts in the cause of national construction. This conference assessed and affirmed the achievements and results of Vietnamese literature and arts 50 years after the country's reunification; proposed and recommended policies and guidelines for the development of the country's literature and arts in the new period. From there, the conference proposed solutions to continue raising awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, localities and units about the position, role and importance of literature and arts; encouraged and motivated artists to continue promoting their talent, intelligence, solidarity, unity and enthusiasm in creating many works of high ideological and artistic value.

At the conference, delegates emphasized that over the past half century, Vietnamese literature and arts have joined the nation in its transformation, creating a voice, strength, encouragement and forecast for development. That context has had a profound impact on the creative practices of artists, promoting Vietnamese literature and arts to gradually approach the progressive trends of world literature and arts, deepening modernization, and achieving valuable initial results.

Many delegates specifically analyzed the issues of each field of Vietnamese culture and arts over the past 50 years. Prof. Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung expressed a profound and comprehensive perspective on the Party's innovations in the field of culture and arts and the important role of culture and arts in the country's development and proposed a number of solutions to continue developing culture and arts.

Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, affirmed that after April 30, 1975, revolutionary literature and art in the North, patriotic writers in the South, and overseas writers have merged into a flow, creating a complete portrait of Vietnamese literature and art. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his respect for artists and cultural and artistic workers nationwide, especially the generations who have made great contributions to the cause of building and developing Vietnamese culture and arts during the resistance war and over the past 50 years.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that over the past 50 years, under the leadership of the Party, for the first time we have a modern, unified literature and art, accepting the positive aspects and quintessence of literature and art from all regions of the country; becoming a common literature and art following the Party's orientation and the people's aspirations, for the cause of innovation and development of the country after the war. This is a great feature, a great success, a great joy for the country and for Vietnamese literature and art.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia mentioned some outstanding issues of literature and arts over the past 50 years at the conference. That is, literature and arts have developed in the right direction, continuing to make important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the country, especially in the years of renovation. The team of artists and writers closely follow life, have a strong desire for innovation, and contribute positive voices on many issues, especially on cultural revival, human development, and national construction and defense.

The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission affirmed that over the past 50 years, the country's artists have always been a reliable force for the Party and the people. The titles of "artist - soldier", "artist - citizen" associated with social responsibility continue to be respected and promoted. Literature and arts have truly made an important contribution, creating the soft power of Vietnamese culture in the process of the country's innovation and increasingly deep integration with the world.

With the requirement of developing the country's culture and arts in the new development stage, the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission emphasized a number of specific tasks and solutions. First of all, it is necessary to focus on improving the Party's leadership capacity, associated with strong innovation in thinking and appropriate and effective leadership methods to create directions and spaces for the development of culture and arts, arousing and strongly promoting the desire to contribute and the creative capacity of artists.

According to comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, it is necessary to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, promote the institutionalization of the Party's policies, viewpoints, tasks and solutions on culture and arts, focus on effectively implementing the "National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period" and organize research and promulgate the National Strategy on building culture and arts in the new era, the era of national development, according to the direction of General Secretary To Lam at the meeting of national artists and writers on December 30, 2024.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also said that it is necessary to strongly promote the development of the field of research, theory, and criticism of literature and arts; promote international exchange and cooperation in literature and arts, so that literature and arts become a bridge to bring the image of the country, culture, and people of Vietnam closer to international friends.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested that association organizations effectively implement the Central's policy, continue to reorganize, innovate methods, improve the quality of activities of literary and artistic association organizations at the central and local levels, ensuring streamlining, professionalism, and effective, efficient, and effective operations.

Within the framework of the National Conference summarizing 50 years of Vietnamese literature and art after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the exhibition "50 years of Vietnamese literature and art accompanying the nation".

The exhibition displays more than 200 images and 200 artifacts and documents with the following contents: "The attention of Party and State leaders to the cause of developing literature and art", "Overview of achievements in Vietnamese literature and art in the past 50 years", "Introducing information on works, groups of works and authors awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize, the State Prize for literature and art".
