"Come to my Vietnamese people"

“Hey, dear friends from all over the world/ Vietnam, our country, greets you/ Once upon a time, it was still shrouded in smoke and bombs/ Now we sing loudly.” In 2000, the song “Coming to My Vietnamese People” by musician Xuan Nghia was broadcast on television, making a strong impression on the public.

According to Xuan Nghia, he wrote this song for 8 years. In 1992, he came up with the verse "Come to my Vietnamese people/ Come to my homeland, my peaceful country...". And so, the chorus came first, two years later, he wrote the opening line: "Hey, my best friend from all over the world...". When he almost finished writing the song, he paused, because the line "Come to the sound of fireworks on New Year's Eve on the 30th" was written before, but in 1994, when there was a ban on fireworks, he found another word to replace it. The song was unfinished, until 2000 when it was finished.

With its youthful melody and simple lyrics, the song evokes pride in the resilient and courageous spirit in the struggle to protect and build the Fatherland, as well as the kindness and friendliness of the Vietnamese people towards international friends: "One day our ancestors made their name in the mountains and rivers/ One day our country rose up in peace", "The shrapnel of bullets sown on the brown soil in the past/ Has now turned into golden rice stalks/ Sent into each page of poetry books/ Looking at the future, the heart smiles".

Musician Nguyen Xuan Nghia, born in 1975 in Hanoi, moved to Ho Chi Minh City at the age of 2 and grew up there. Growing up from the student music movement, Nguyen Xuan Nghia and his friends formed the band "The Student" to play in schools, composing songs praising the homeland and country. He is a member of the Vietnam Musicians Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, and was the Chairman of the Youth Composition Club of the City Youth Union (Youth Cultural House), and a member of the Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union. Xuan Nghia is also known for the songs "Noi a la Truong Sa", "Cung duoi nang phuong Dong", "Mai la nguoi thanh thanh Viet Nam"...

The 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South is also the 50th birthday of Xuan Nghia. He composed the song "Repainting the picture of Saigon" to express the changes, strong development in economy - culture - society and the peaceful, happy, and increasingly improving life of the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
