Developing Hai Phong tourism to attract investment

With the advantage of being a coastal land, Hai Phong always identifies sea tourism as its strength. Of the 10 specific tourism products that this city is aiming for, there are up to 8 product groups related to two key tourist destinations: Cat Ba, Do Son and Bach Long Vi.

Known as the pearl island, Cat Ba contains outstanding values ​​of biodiversity such as primeval forests, kim giao forests, flooded forests on limestone mountains, caves, mangrove forests, saltwater lakes, coral reefs and 100% white-headed langurs along with 76 rare species listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) living here. This place also has many majestic natural landscapes such as cave systems, famous historical sites and relics, limestone mountain systems with many distinct shapes creating unique beauty...

Do Son is also an attractive destination on the journey to Hai Phong. Not only can tourists freely swim in the waves, but they can also enjoy a "miniature Da Lat" at Hon Dau international tourist area.

Bach Long Vi has an area of ​​2.5 km2, located farthest from shore in the Gulf of Tonkin. The island has a particularly important strategic position in economic development, security protection, national defense and territorial waters. Before 1993, this was a military island. Responding to the call for young people to start a business to protect the country by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the policy of the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, since March 1993, more than 60 Vietnamese youth union members volunteered to build Bach Long Vi Island District. After 30 years of construction and development, Bach Long Vi Island District has developed remarkably with important island construction projects such as the project to renovate houses, guest houses, and Youth Volunteer Halls; the project to build a Youth and Children's Cultural and Sports Center; the project to build an underground cable network and a wind power station.

With those strengths in sea tourism, Hai Phong has built unique tourism products, including spiritual and cultural tourism products, craft village tourism, resort tourism and sports activities, culinary tourism, tourism combined with seminars, tourism combined with shopping, tourism associated with cultural, sports and tourism events, etc.

Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee Le Khac Nam said that in order to promote the strengths of these tourism products, in the coming time, Hai Phong will continue to lobby the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to recognize Cat Ba archipelago as a World Natural Heritage; pilot the opening of a tourist transport route by sea from Hai Phong to Bach Long Vi.

Strong development of tourism is also an investment in developing the marine economy of Hai Phong. Taking advantage of the opportunities and advantages of the largest seaport city in the North and other convenient transportation systems from air to rail, especially the system of 45 bridges of all kinds connecting with neighboring provinces such as Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong has made Hai Phong continue to become an attractive destination for large investors.

Strong development of tourism is also an investment in developing Hai Phong's marine economy.

In the Resolution of the 16th Congress of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, high-tech industry, seaports - logistics, tourism - trade are the main priorities. At the 16th Hai Phong City Party Congress, term 2020-2025, Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang, the participation of experts and businesses will help Hai Phong's tourism development programs to be synchronous, highly effective, suitable, and better meet the needs of tourists. The Standing Committee of the City Party Committee will directly listen to the tourism working group's reports once a month to promptly take leadership, direction, and determination measures to make Hai Phong tourism develop rapidly, worthy of being one of the three main economic development pillars of Hai Phong in the spirit of the Resolution of the 16th City Party Congress./.
