Developing economic model from microfinance loan capital in Thanh Hoa

From the loan capital of Thanh Hoa Microfinance Organization, Ms. Le Thi Hung has expanded her economic development model, bringing significant income to her family and creating jobs for local workers.

Although not born in Dong Phu, fate has tied Ms. Le Thi Hung (30 years old) to this land like a predestined relationship. In the early years of her career, she chose the job of making ice - a hard labor job, with unstable income and many potential risks. After much hesitation and thought, Ms. Hung decided to temporarily stop making ice and find a new direction.

After consulting many different economic models, Ms. Hung decided to build a model of raising eels and frogs without mud. This is an agricultural model that does not require too much investment cost, is easy to care for, and has high market demand. Realizing that the model has a lot of development potential and is suitable for her personal conditions and circumstances, Ms. Hung boldly invested in building Dong Phat aquaculture facility.

In 2023, Ms. Hung accessed a loan from Thanh Hoa Microfinance Organization. This is considered an important turning point in her economic development journey. Ms. Hung emotionally shared: “The microfinance came at the right time when I needed to expand my farming facility. What impressed me was the quick loan procedure, no collateral required. The credit officers were very friendly, enthusiastic in consulting and providing additional guidance on financial management skills.”

With the loan, Ms. Hung invested in additional tanks, water filtration systems, and expanded to raising eels and frogs. In particular, she also participated in an online course on financial management and business development within the framework of the “Grow My Business” project, thereby improving her management skills and operating the model systematically.

Currently, the facility's products are not only consumed strongly locally but also have orders for export to the Chinese market. In addition to live eel, Ms. Hung also develops ready-made eel dishes such as: stir-fried eel with lemongrass and chili, braised eel with banana, braised eel with pepper... which are favored by customers and ordered regularly.

On the journey to economic development, Ms. Hung also creates jobs for many local women, helping them increase their income and improve their lives. Her model is considered a typical model of household economic development in Dong Phu commune, especially in the field of clean agriculture and food processing.

Ms. Hung’s case is a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of micro-loans when used properly and accompanied by professional support. With loans from Thanh Hoa Microfinance Organization, many disadvantaged women in rural areas have had the opportunity to start a business, stabilize their lives, gradually escape poverty and take control of their family’s economy.
