In the eighth revised national power development plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII), Lam Dong is allocated 2.4 GW of wind power capacity. The province's goal is to attract investment in offshore wind power of about 2,000 MW in the period 2025 - 2030 and about 2,300 MW in the period 2031 - 2035.

According to Mr. Le Trong Yen - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Lam Dong after merging 3 provinces possesses diverse terrain, along with rich natural resources. In addition, Lam Dong also has 192 km of coastline and fishing grounds of over 52,000 km2, sharing a border with Cambodia...

These are the factors that have become strengths for Lam Dong to focus on developing high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, eco-tourism, and marine economy . In particular, developing renewable energy and wind energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels is identified as "consistent with the industrial development plan of Lam Dong province until 2030".

Mr. Nicolai Prytz - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Vietnam said: “In the field of energy, since 2013, Vietnam and Denmark have established the Energy Partnership Cooperation Program. Denmark is committed to supporting Vietnam in reducing its dependence on fossil fuels and promoting the efficiency of renewable energy - areas in which Denmark has a lot of experience. Currently, Denmark is working with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam to implement phase 3 of the Energy Partnership Cooperation Program.”

According to Mr. Nicolai Prytz, previously, Denmark also supported Lam Dong in ODA projects on water supply, drainage and environmental sanitation such as: drainage and wastewater treatment system in Da Lat city (1995 - 2005), environmental sanitation initiatives (2002 - 2007), the National Target Program on clean water and rural sanitation (2005 - 2015), as well as supporting more than 1 million farmers in 5 Central Highlands provinces including the former Dak Nong province in the Vietnam - Denmark Agriculture program (2007 - 2023).

Based on these cooperation foundations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz suggested that Lam Dong province continue to pay attention and create conditions for Danish enterprises to consolidate and strengthen their partnership with Lam Dong province in the field of wind power. According to Mr. Nicolai Prytz, Lam Dong is allocated 2.4 GW of wind power capacity in the Power Plan VIII, in addition to its strengths in sunlight and wind - factors that receive special attention from Vestas - the world's leading enterprise in green energy development solutions.

With more than 40 years of experience, Vestas has installed about 189 GW of wind turbines in 88 countries around the world. In Vietnam alone, Vestas has also established its presence with 1.6 GW of wind power that has been and is under construction... Vestas Development - a subsidiary of Vestas, specializing in developing and investing in renewable energy projects - recognizes Lam Dong's great potential for wind power and wishes to "learn about developing new wind power projects that are not yet included in the Power Plan VIII or have the right to develop projects that have been included in the Power Plan VIII but these projects have not yet conducted wind measurements or conducted the necessary studies to prepare investment proposals", said Mr. Le Duc Cuong - General Director of Vestas Development Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Responding to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz and representatives of enterprises, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen said: Lam Dong's viewpoint is always to create favorable conditions for enterprises to come to the locality to learn about and invest in energy development to serve the production and deep processing of aluminum bauxite. However, in the process of investing and implementing the project, enterprises must ensure the environment, as well as comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law.
