Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1639/QD-TTg dated December 24, 2024 approving the Project on developing biological industry in the field of environmental protection by 2030.
The general objective of the Project is to develop the biological industry in the field of environmental protection in a sustainable and friendly manner, in order to control and improve environmental quality and effectively use natural resources; enhance the potential for research, application and mastery of biological technologies in the field of environmental protection in the region and the world.
Developing biotechnology in the field of environmental protection towards mastering core technologies
The project sets out specific goals such as implementing research and development of biotechnology in the field of environmental protection towards mastering core technologies, advanced biotechnology to produce waste treatment products in agricultural, forestry and fishery production and processing, medical waste treatment products; products to treat waste in industry, medicine and daily life;
Promote the construction and development of at least 10% more industrial-scale enterprises producing biological products used in waste treatment and equipment lines for producing biological products in the field of environmental protection;
Investing in developing human resources and key laboratory facilities to meet the needs of developing the biological industry in the field of environmental protection, focusing on developing biological products in waste treatment;
Complete the system of legal documents and national database on technology development and biotechnology in the field of environmental protection.
5 key tasks
To achieve the above objectives, the Project implements 5 key tasks including:
1- Developing science and technology to serve the biological industry in the field of environmental protection;
2- Strengthening the potential to serve the development of biotechnology and promoting the bioindustry in the field of environmental protection;
3- Develop and perfect the system of legal documents, mechanisms and policies to promote the development of bio-industry in the field of environmental protection;
4- International cooperation in the field of biotechnology in the field of environmental protection;
5- Communication to raise awareness of biotechnology in the field of environmental protection.
Prioritize energy recovery technology and waste recycling
In particular, for the task of developing science and technology to serve the biological industry in the field of environmental protection, the Project will research and apply biotechnology, equipment for treating waste from production, processing of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products; products for treating medical waste; products for treating industrial and domestic waste on an industrial scale, prioritizing energy recovery technology, waste recycling. Receive and decode new technology, equipment lines from countries with advanced biological industries in the world to develop biotechnology in the field of environmental protection on an industrial scale.
In addition, focus on developing enterprises applying domestic technology to produce biological products that are competitive in environmental treatment, prioritizing waste recycling technology; at the same time, promote enterprises to receive, master and disseminate modern biological technology from advanced countries in the world in industrial-scale waste treatment, suitable to actual conditions in Vietnam.
