The Ministry of Construction has just issued a decision approving the Detailed Plan for the development of land and seaport areas in Da Nang for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, Da Nang Seaport includes Tien Sa wharf area; Lien Chieu; Tho Quang; My Khe; Hoang Sa island district seaport and anchorage areas, transshipment areas, storm shelters.

By 2030, Da Nang Seaport is planned to have 23 - 29 million tons of cargo throughput (of which container cargo is from 1.33 - 1.71 million TEU, not including international transit container cargo); passengers are from 532,300 - 597,000.

During this period, the port has a total of 12 - 15 wharves including 20 - 23 wharves with a total length of 4,220.3 - 5,745.3 m (not including other wharves).

With a vision to 2050, Da Nang Seaport will continue to develop new ports to meet the demand for cargo throughput with an average growth rate of about 4.5 - 5.5%/year.

In addition, in this phase, the investment in Lien Chieu port area will be completed with a scale of oriented overall development of 22 ports to meet the growing demand for goods including: 8 liquid/gas ports; 8 container ports; 6 general cargo ports, bulk cargo, developing container cargo according to the planning period when there is a need. After 2030, the function of Tien Sa port area will be gradually converted into a tourist port in accordance with the investment and exploitation process of Lien Chieu port area.

The Ministry of Construction also deployed the connection of roads, railways, inland waterways and coastal routes according to approved planning.

On that basis, the Ministry of Construction estimates the capital investment demand for the seaport system by 2030 at about VND 23,335 billion, including: investment capital for public maritime infrastructure at about VND 6,505 billion and investment capital demand for ports at about VND 16,830 billion (including only ports providing cargo handling services).

To realize investment capital, the Ministry of Construction continues to improve mechanisms and conditions to mobilize diverse domestic and foreign resources to participate in investing in developing seaport infrastructure according to planning and institutionalizing solutions on decentralization and delegation of authority to mobilize resources; exploiting resources from land funds, water surfaces, revenue from leasing and exploiting port infrastructure invested from the budget; promoting socialization of investment in developing seaport infrastructure...

The Ministry of Construction will have a mechanism to attract investment in port construction, especially ports serving common areas in economic zones, industrial zones, and industrial clusters to improve the efficiency of port investment, land funds, and water surfaces; support port enterprises in the investment and construction process, especially the progress of site clearance.

“Existing ports are allowed to be renovated, upgraded, and newly built in accordance with the scale, function, and ship size specified in the detailed planning of seaports, ports, wharves, buoys, water areas, and water regions for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050,” emphasized the leader of the Ministry of Construction.
