(BTNO) - On November 27, the 10th Vietnam - Singapore Navy Working Group Meeting took place in Hai Phong. Rear Admiral Nguyen Viet Khanh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People's Navy and Colonel Herbert Pang, Deputy Director of the Department of Naval Operations of the Republic of Singapore chaired the meeting.

Rear Admiral Nguyen Viet Khanh delivered the opening speech at the meeting.

In his opening speech, Rear Admiral Nguyen Viet Khanh emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the two navies has continuously developed and achieved positive results over the past time.

The two navies have effectively coordinated and implemented bilateral and multilateral cooperation activities, achieving many substantive results; maintained a good mechanism for sharing non -military maritime information through assigning liaison officers to work at the Singapore Navy's Maritime Security Information Sharing Center (IFC); contributed to ensuring maritime security and safety, further enhancing mutual trust and understanding, consolidating and promoting the friendly relationship and good cooperation between the two armies and navies.

Colonel Herbert Pang expressed his pleasure that the cooperation between the two Navies has continued to be maintained and promoted in recent times and hoped that in the 10th Vietnam - Singapore Navy Working Group Meeting, the two sides will continue to seek more cooperation opportunities, contributing to further deepening the relationship between the two Navies.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the regional maritime security situation in 2024, assessed the results of implementing cooperation contents since the 9th Vietnam-Singapore Navy Working Group Meeting (March 2023), as well as discussed cooperation directions in the coming time.

In 2025, the two sides will continue to maintain delegation exchanges at all levels; organize mutual ship visits combined with joint training on formation movement, communication, search and rescue, and CUES practice; hold the 11th joint working group meeting; share non-military maritime information; discuss the possibility of establishing cooperation between the IFC Center (Singapore) and Saigon Newport Corporation... The Singapore Navy supports the Vietnam Navy in training on command and staff, international relations, English, and long-distance seafaring training.
