8th meeting of the State Steering Committee for key projects and works in the transport sector

On November 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the 8th online meeting of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works (DA) of the Transport sector. At the provincial bridge, comrade Phan Tan Canh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of relevant departments, branches and units attended.

According to the Ministry of Transport (MOT), the country currently has 86 national key projects in the transport sector in 48 provinces and cities. Of these, there are 5 railway projects, 2 airport projects, and the rest are road projects, mainly highways. Localities have actively and resolutely implemented site clearance to meet construction progress. However, the construction of resettlement areas and relocation of high-voltage power lines has been slower than required, so the implementation of some projects has been slower than planned.

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing tasks, solutions, and coordination work to promote project implementation progress, promptly remove difficulties, obstacles, and shortcomings in implementation organization, mechanisms, and legal policies to complete and create an open investment environment in investing in key projects and other transport infrastructure projects; handle outstanding issues such as procedures for common construction materials for projects; site handover progress; investment preparation work, etc.

Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: The successful implementation of important national projects and works, key projects of the transport sector will contribute to the implementation of three strategic breakthroughs, especially in transport infrastructure according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; contribute to promoting growth, disbursing public investment according to Conclusion 64 of the recent 8th Central Conference; contribute to creating jobs and livelihoods for the people. The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to be proactive, determined, focus on removing difficulties and obstacles, prioritize the settlement of site clearance, focus on building resettlement areas, stabilize people's lives. Speed up the progress of site clearance of projects. Focus on coordinating with investors and contractors to complete procedures for common construction material mines according to instructions; do not allow speculation, price increases, and price pressure. Resolutely direct contractors to speed up construction progress when the weather is favorable. Relevant ministries and sectors need to strengthen inspection and urge contractors to concentrate resources and organize construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams" to speed up the progress of projects. Guide localities to implement the work of changing forest use purposes; guide methods for determining material prices at mines; review investment procedures; complete the relocation of technical infrastructure to meet the construction progress of projects...
