From October 19 to 21, VicePresident Vo Thi Anh Xuan led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the inauguration ceremony of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for the 2024-2029 term.
After the state-level welcoming ceremony solemnly held on October 19, at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia with a 19-gun salute and an honor guard review, on October 20, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended the inauguration ceremony of the President of Indonesia, held at the Indonesian Parliament Building with the participation of leaders and representatives of nearly 30 countries.
Speaking at At his inauguration, President Prabowo Subianto called on Indonesians to strengthen national unity, put national interests above party and personal interests; face the truth to resolve internal and external challenges; seize opportunities, and continue to lead Indonesia firmly on the path of strong development and prosperity.
President Prabowo outlined a number of policy priorities for the Government in the next five-year term, including ensuring food security, fighting corruption, ensuring nutritious meals for students, effectively managing natural resources, supporting vulnerable groups, especially low-income farmers and fishermen, etc.
Regarding foreign affairs, the Indonesian President affirmed to adhere to the traditional foreign policy principles of “freedom and initiative”, “good neighborliness”, and anti-colonialism and anti-racism. President Prabowo Subianto also pledged to inherit many policies of the previous administration of President Joko Widodo, including promoting the development of the mining industry and banning the export of raw minerals.
On this occasion, the Vice President met and interacted with a number of heads of delegations from countries attending the inauguration ceremony, such as Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo, Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, Lao Vice President Pany Yathotou, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Valentinovich Manturov, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters, etc.
In their discussions with Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, the leaders of the countries highly appreciated and valued the good relations with Vietnam, expressing their desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in all fields, especially in economics, trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchange.
* Previously, on the evening of October 19, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy, the ASEAN Secretariat, and the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to ASEAN and representatives of the Vietnamese community and businesses in Indonesia.
The Vice President highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Indonesia in recent times as well as their affection for their homeland; emphasized the policy of great national unity of our Party and State; affirmed that Vietnamese people abroad, including the Vietnamese community in Indonesia, are an inseparable part, an important resource and factor in the process of building and developing the country.
The Vice President also emphasized the important role of the young Vietnamese generation abroad in the future development of the country, especially in the context that Vietnam is standing at a new historical starting point, a new era - the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
