Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Trong Tan inspected the situation at Da Mai Lake, Cu Dong Commune.
At the meeting, the leaders of the People's Committees of Cu Dong and Thanh Son communes said that, up to now, the locality has prepared plans for natural disaster prevention and search and rescue when situations occur with the motto "three readiness" (proactive prevention, timely response, urgent and effective recovery) and "four on-site" (on-site command; on-site forces; on-site means and materials; on-site logistics). In which, taking prevention as the main task, from response to early action, proactive in natural disaster prevention and search and rescue to minimize damage to people and property.
Inspecting the dams in the two communes, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Trong Tan emphasized: The consequences of natural disasters in the province over the past years are often due to the circulation of storms. Therefore, localities must not be negligent and subjective, always assign units to be on duty 24/24 hours, regularly and promptly update the developments of the storm.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed Cu Dong and Thanh Son communes in particular and communes in mountainous areas in general to strengthen inspections before, during and after the storm, especially at vulnerable locations, points at risk of landslides, culverts, low-lying areas or areas prone to flooding; promptly detect incidents to take timely measures, proactively evacuate people to safe places; assign people to be on duty at culverts, not allowing people and vehicles to pass through when there is rain or flood, absolutely not causing human casualties.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Trong Tan requested the People's Committee of Thanh Son commune to immediately handle the leaking incident on the right shoulder of the Suoi Cai dam and the leaking dam slope downstream at Suoi Cai lake.
At the same time, localities are required to strengthen their steering committees, proactively prevent storms and floods in the spirit of "4 on-the-spot"; review vehicles and equipment in the area so that they can be requisitioned immediately when natural disasters occur; prepare well in terms of forces, especially the police, army, militia and forces in residential areas.
