Transportation opens the way for development
Immediately after being recognized by the Prime Minister as a district meeting new rural standards in 2022, Phu Binh (Thai Nguyen province) has determined the next goal of building an advanced new rural area by 2024. With great political determination, the entire political system from the district to the grassroots level has taken strong and drastic action. To date, the district has completed the criteria for an advanced new rural district, with 11/19 communes meeting the standards of an advanced new rural commune.
One of the highlights is the traffic infrastructure. In 2023 and 2024, the district mobilized more than 1,500 billion VND to upgrade and build more than 139km of roads of all kinds. 100% of the district's roads are asphalted and concreted, and lighting systems, signs, and trees are installed to ensure the criteria of "bright-green-clean-beautiful".
Inter-commune and inter-regional roads not only shorten travel distances but also connect concentrated raw material areas, facilitating the transportation of goods and developing agricultural value chains.
An official from Kha Son commune (Phu Binh district) shared: "The locality has actively mobilized people to participate in building infrastructure and renovating residential areas. We value quality rather than chasing after achievements. People are the main subjects and also the beneficiaries."
Along with transportation, electricity infrastructure, irrigation, cultural, medical andeducational institutions have also received synchronous attention. In the past two years, Phu Binh has invested hundreds of billions of VND to upgrade transformer stations, power lines, build 43 new irrigation works, renovate schools, squares, sports centers... to create better conditions for people's living and production.
Ms. Le Thi Hoa, a farmer in Luong Phu commune (Phu Binh district) shared: "I see a clear change in my life, the village roads and alleys are spacious, children can go to school easily, and the elderly receive better health care. Before, farming was very difficult for us, but now we have irrigation, new varieties, technical training, and gradual mechanization, so productivity has increased significantly."

Many outstanding results in building advanced and exemplary new rural areas in Nam Dinh
New development space
Not only doing well in the “hardware”, Phu Binh also pays special attention to agricultural restructuring. Up to now, the whole district has planned and invested synchronously in 21 concentrated raw material areas, of which 16 rice areas have been assigned growing area codes, applying advanced technical processes. This is an important basis for forming a production-processing-consumption chain, increasing the added value and competitiveness of local agricultural products.

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has been effectively implemented, with 35 qualified products (an increase of 20 products compared to 2022), including the 4-star product "Truong Nguyen White Horse Extract" which is being promoted to expand the market. The district also organized hundreds of propaganda programs, connecting the consumption of agricultural products via social networks, contributing to bringing the Phu Binh Hill Chicken brand and key agricultural products closer to domestic consumers.
Notably, cooperatives, cooperative groups, and farm economic models are growing strongly. Tan Khanh Commune is a bright spot with 14 agricultural cooperatives, 17 farm economic models, and 6 OCOP products - becoming an important nucleus to promote the development of ecological agriculture, associated with experiential tourism.
According to Chairman of Phu Binh District People's Committee Le Thanh Son, building advanced new rural areas is not only a movement, but also a long-term development orientation. The district has persistently and persistently mobilized the entire political system and the people to participate, putting the people at the center. The approach is flexible, practical, and takes effectiveness as the measure.
Therefore, Phu Binh has been recognized by the National Appraisal Council to meet advanced new rural standards by the Prime Minister in 2024.
Implementing the Party's policy, the merger of 20 communes and towns into 5 large communes with separate development orientations (industry, ecological urban areas, services, commodity agriculture...) will create conditions to mobilize resources, organize reasonable development space, and raise the level to turn new communes (from July 1) that used to belong to Phu Binh district (when dissolved) into the southern growth pole of Thai Nguyen province.
