Professor, Doctor Phan Luong Cam, wife of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, the first female professor and doctor of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, passed away in the early morning of April 9, at the age of 82.

Professor, Doctor Phan Luong Cam, born in 1943, in Thua Thien-Hue. She is a famous scientist in the field of electrochemistry-metal corrosion in Vietnam.
Since 1965, she has been a lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. In 1968, she was sent to the Soviet Union to do research. After successfully defending her doctoral thesis in Electrochemistry and Metal Corrosion, in early 1973, she returned to Vietnam and continued teaching and researching at Hanoi University of Science and Technology; she was the first female professor and doctor of the school.
In addition to teaching and research, Professor, Dr. Phan Luong Cam was also the founder and Director of the Center for Corrosion and Metal Protection Research, Hanoi University of Science and Technology from 1996 until her retirement in 2008. She was also the President of the Asia-Pacific Association for Materials and Corrosion for the term 1999-2001.
In more than 40 years of teaching and research, Professor Phan Luong Cam has trained thousands of students, masters and doctors. She has presided over many important scientific projects, including many state-level topics and international cooperation projects. Along with that, she is also the author of many inventions and useful solutions.
Professor, Doctor Phan Luong Cam received the Kovalevskaia Prize in 1995 (an annual award for outstanding female scientists); the Labor Medal and many medals and certificates of merit for her contributions to the cause of education, science and technology, the cause of women's advancement and child protection./.
