Responding to the unit's call, the Women's Union of Division 2 launched a fundraising campaign to support flood victims. After only 3 hours of implementation, thousands of sets of clothes were donated, including hundreds of new, unused sets. The Union also received more than 1,200 packs of instant noodles, nearly 1,000 bottles of mineral water, more than 100 boxes of bread, 4 boxes of cakes and milk from union members and youth in the unit, and many other necessities.
In addition to the support from donations within the unit, officers and women's union members in Division 2 also donated clothes and money (used to buy nearly 100 new blankets) to give to the people.
Receiving the gift, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien (Group 5, Quy Nhon Bac Ward) was moved: "There are two mothers and children in the house, the water rose quickly and swept everything away, leaving nothing. Luckily, the female soldiers gave us blankets, so we had something to cover ourselves with to keep warm, we appreciate this sentiment."
Sharing the same situation, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc (Group 6, Quy Nhon Bac Ward) shared: "The flood swept away everything, it's been so cold these past few days, I can't sleep under a tarp, I'm so happy to have the blankets the soldiers gave us."
Sharing about the mobilization work, Ms. Dinh Thi Thu, Vice President of the Women's Union of Division 2 shared: "Returning to the people, I feel so sorry. Before that, the union also mobilized women to join hands with local women to support the people. When the union launched the campaign, 100% of the women participated with a positive and urgent spirit for the sake of their beloved people."
Colonel Le Sy Hung, Political Commissar of Division 2, added: “The unit has directly helped the people overcome the dangers from the first days of the flood, so we understand the difficulties of the people. The gifts were delivered to each household in the hope that they will help them ease the initial difficulties.”
The activity demonstrates the spirit of "mutual love" and responsibility of officers and soldiers of Division 2 in general and the Women's Union of Division 2 in particular towards the community, joining hands to support people in flood-affected areas.
