Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy - Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee spoke at the ceremony. |
The goal of the new system is to reach the scene in just 8 minutes, provide timely treatment during the “golden time” and increase the patient’s chance of survival. This will not only serve the people of Phu Quoc Island but also prepare well for important international events, such as APEC 2027.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Hien, Director of An Giang Department of Health, emphasized the importance of this system: “Phu Quoc is the most beautiful island in the country. The population on the island is also very large, including tourists. Therefore, the locality needs to have an emergency system to help ensure the safety of the people, especially an emergency system outside the hospital.”
One of the biggest breakthroughs is the application of technology to optimize time. Mr. Hien said: “When a call is made, the system will automatically coordinate to the nearest emergency facility outside the hospital. Thanks to that, the hospital can prepare in advance and be ready to provide emergency care as soon as the patient arrives. This process is extremely important for stroke cases, where diagnosis and intervention must be performed within 5-10 minutes. If operated well, this process will help us achieve international standards for stroke emergency care, increase the chance of survival and reduce sequelae for patients.”
