This is an advantage for Phu Quy to develop both the marine economy and green tourism.

Provincial seafood export trade center

During a working trip to the island district, Vice Chairman of Phu Quy District People's Committee Ngo Tan Luc took us to visit seafood markets right next to the coast. From early morning, before the sun rose, Phu Quy port was bustling with the hustle and bustle of fishermen and traders waiting for fishing boats to dock, creating a bustling atmosphere. Along the coast of Phu Quy, there are many markets selling fresh seafood. Mr. Luc said that every morning, dozens of local traders go to the seaport to buy fish and squid from boats that have just docked. Since this place became known as a tourist destination, Phu Quy island district has invested in and managed fish markets more systematically, serving tourists after visiting the markets, traveling, buying fresh seafood right on the beach to bring back to the mainland. The fish markets have gradually become places for direct exchange and purchase between fishermen and tourists. After visiting the seafood markets, we moved to the fish cage farming area, in Long Hai commune, Phu Quy district. With the advantage of deep, clean sea, in recent times, Phu Quy district has focused on developing sustainable aquaculture. Up to now, the district has 72 seafood farming facilities, with an area of 14,484.9 m 2 , of which 61 households raise cages with a farming area of 9,301 m 2 , 11 dams with a farming area of 5,183.9 m 2 . The main seafood types are grouper, cobia, lobster... the average annual farming yield is about 100 tons. In addition, Phu Quy district also has dozens of seafood purchasing, processing and exporting facilities. Phu Quy's current boat capacity is 1,735/7,540 workers, of which 594 boats have a capacity of over 90 CV, including 130 boats for seafood purchasing and processing services. The average annual output of fresh seafood of all kinds reaches over 32 thousand tons, and in 2024 alone it will reach over 36 thousand tons. With many advantages in catching, farming, purchasing and processing seafood, the Prime Minister has approved the Project to build Phu Quy Island into a Center for exploitation, fishery logistics services, combined with search and rescue at sea. The goal of the Project by 2030 is to build Phu Quy Island into a Center for exploitation, fishery logistics services, combined with search and rescue at sea in the region and the whole country. This is the expectation of the district to continue to build Phu Quy Island into a center for exploitation, processing and fishery services, a commercial center for seafood export of the province, and at the same time a solid logistics fulcrum of Truong Sa archipelago.

Green tourism development

Many tourists when coming to Phu Quy all think: Phu Quy is like a pearl in the East Sea because in the middle of the vast ocean, there is a small peaceful island with clear blue water, fine white sand and beautiful landscapes that cannot be found anywhere else. Around the island, all the beaches are clear blue, colorful coral reefs and quiet space, creating an ideal destination to explore. Despite being among a series of famous tourist destinations, Phu Quy still retains its wild beauty, attracting tourists with its pristine natural beauty and the simple life of the people here. Cao Cat Mountain, one of the destinations not to be missed when traveling to Phu Quy, stands out with its majestic natural beauty and profound spiritual value. In addition, Phu Quy also has famous tourist attractions such as: Ganh Hang, Sovereignty Marker, Doc Phuot, Mo Thay, Linh Son Pagoda, Lach Du, sunset viewing spot at Trieu Duong Bay, or check-in spots that are "hot" on social networks such as: Lonely Tree, fishing village, infinity pool, some homestays with sea views... Especially the peaceful coastal fishing villages on the island bring visitors beautiful photos, recreating and immersing themselves in the warm, genuine atmosphere of the fishermen. Another special thing is that, before 2014, Phu Quy district had only 16 hours of electricity usage for daily life and production, which was one of the "bottlenecks" in development, especially in tourism development. Since July 1, 2014, electricity in Phu Quy has been provided 24 hours, not only creating a major turning point for socio-economic development, especially in the tourism sector. Currently, the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy high-speed ferry route has 4 shipping companies that have replaced the previous iron train that transported passengers from Phan Thiet Port to Phu Quy and vice versa in just 2 - 2 hours and 30 minutes, instead of 6 - 7 hours before. With great potential for tourism development, the Party Committee, government and people of Phu Quy have focused on tourism development, along with developing other services. With the motto that the Party Committee, government and people in the district must identify tourism as a comprehensive economic sector with profound cultural content, prioritizing sustainable and safe tourism development, associated with environmental protection and preserving and promoting the cultural identity, national traditions and people of Phu Quy. Gradually shifting the structure to make tourism one of the central sectors attracting resources and contributing high value to the district's economy.

Improving the quality of tourism services to ensure diversity, uniqueness and attraction. With the determination of Phu Quy district in developing green and sustainable tourism, the number of tourists coming to Phu Quy is increasing day by day.
