Phu Tho: Focus on developing green and sustainable tourism

Phu Tho province was newly merged from 3 provinces: Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh, creating an open space to exploit the potential and strengths of developing cultural, spiritual and ecological tourism... Phu Tho province with a natural area of ​​over 9,361km2, is notable for being the land of the ancestors, with Hung Temple - a special national historical relic site, a sacred symbol of the Hung King worship, a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity recognized by UNESCO, a spiritual convergence point, connecting the Vietnamese community at home and abroad. This is the place to worship the Hung Kings - the ancestors of the nation, attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world to offer incense, pay tribute, and report their achievements on the occasion of the annual death anniversary of the Hung Kings.

Hung Temple, in the subconscious, has been a destination in the spiritual tourism journey to the land of the ancestors. After that, tourists have many options to visit many places with 2,778 historical and cultural relics, scenic spots in the area, typically: Lac Long Quan Temple, Au Co Temple; Tay Thien historical relic and scenic area, Thac Bo Temple... In addition to the Hung King worship, Phu Tho also has Xoan singing, an intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Xoan singing melodies have been actively collected, preserved, and developed by authorities at all levels in recent times, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists to come and enjoy the art, learn, research, and study.

Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang, a tourist from Hanoi, shared that his family had been to many places, but always wanted their children and grandchildren to remember their ancestral land, so the whole family chose this journey. From the capital, just a few dozen kilometers, the family stopped at the first stop to explore and enjoy the landscape with many meaningful activities, connecting members under the cool pine forests at Dai Lai Lake tourist area. Next, enjoy the cool air on the misty top of Tam Dao mountain, take the cable car to Tay Thien to burn incense at the sacred Mother Goddess temple, then continue the tour Hanoi - Hung Temple - Sa Pa - Hanoi.

As for Mr. Nguyen Quang Vu's family, they chose a different itinerary for their members: Hanoi - Hung Temple - Hoa Binh - Hanoi. According to Mr. Vu, everyone wanted to come and offer incense and pay tribute to the Hung Kings. Regarding tourism infrastructure, up to now the whole province has 1,520 accommodation establishments with more than 20,000 rooms, including 185 hotels (9 4-5 star hotels); 94 operating travel agencies, of which 15 have reached international scope.

In 2025, Phu Tho is expected to welcome 14.5 million visitors, including 4.5 million overnight guests; total tourism revenue is estimated at 14,800 billion VND; average growth rate is over 10%/year. It cannot be compared with localities famous for their tourism strengths, but for Phu Tho, that number is a positive signal, affirming the province's attention and investment efficiency along with many other resources, awakening potential and advantages, a great boost compared to before, opening up confidence in the future.

Phu Tho province has issued open policies to support tourism businesses, invest in and preserve tourism products, OCOP agricultural products, and organize promotional activities to attract tourists. The province also focuses on ensuring security and order, so that tourists can feel secure in their experiences; the motto is to welcome guests with excitement and enthusiasm, and to send them off with joy and nostalgia.

To achieve that goal, in recent times, Phu Tho has resolutely focused on digital transformation and building a smart tourism ecosystem, building a local tourism database, a digital tourism map, connecting with the national system on technology application in destination management; developing an online platform so that tourists can easily access information and book services with just one touch; increasing promotion on digital platforms, connecting with domestic and foreign travel agencies and airlines.

At the same time, develop high-quality tourism human resources to meet the requirements of serving domestic and international tourists. Encourage social investment in tourism projects, improve accommodation infrastructure, services and tourism experiences, contributing to the development of Phu Tho tourism to ensure efficiency, security, safety and sustainable development.
