Following the Gold medal achievement of athlete Vo Huynh Anh Khoa on the morning of June 4, the Vietnam Paralympic Swimming Team continued to win another Gold medal thanks to athlete Vi Thi Hang.
At the Aquatics Palace at Morodok Techo National Stadium on the outskirts of Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh, Vi Thi Hang (S7 disability category) finished first in the women's 400m freestyle swimming event, with a time of 6 minutes 57 seconds 95.
Finishing second (7 minutes 12 seconds 69) was athlete Chantha Thoeun of the host country Cambodia. Vi Thi Hang's speed also helped her set a new Southeast Asian record, breaking the old record of 9 minutes 34 seconds 94.
Thus, on the morning of June 4, the Vietnamese Disabled Sports Delegation had 2 Gold medals, both brought home by the Swimming Team.
On the first official competition day of the Games, Vietnam Paralympic Sports also expects to win a gold medal in weightlifting when Paralympic record-holder Le Van Cong, along with two weightlifters Dang Thi Linh Phuong and Nguyen Binh An, enter the competition.
