In the ward, there are currently 545 vessels with a length of 6m or more participating in seafood fishing. As of October 30, there were 144 fishing vessels that were not qualified to operate. The ward has compiled a list to monitor, manage, and determine the anchorage locations of these fishing vessels; organized the signing of a commitment not to violate IUU with the vessel owners; coordinated with the authorities to collect complete information on the vessels anchored at the Vinh Truong residential wharf area...

The leaders of Nam Nha Trang Ward People's Committee requested that, for the Vinh Truong residential wharf area, fishing boats should immediately be notified to stop gathering, purchasing, and trading seafood here; households with business stalls should voluntarily dismantle and relocate within 7 days, starting from October 31. At the same time, urgently establish a working group to mobilize, organize enforcement, maintain checkpoints, erect fences, warning signs... to prevent the re-encroachment of the residential wharf as a place to anchor fishing boats, gather, and trade seafood; propose financial support for forces performing tasks here. The Ward People's Committee and heads of residential groups where fishing boats are not qualified to operate should continue to coordinate to monitor the technical and legal status of fishing boats; the location and status of mooring boats; and the coordination and voluntary compliance of boat owners.

The Ward Economic , Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department continues to review the current status of fishing vessels in the area; synthesize and systematize data into information groups for easy monitoring (qualified vessels, unqualified vessels, unregistered vessels, expired registration, installed VMS voyage monitoring equipment, etc.). For fishing vessels that are not qualified for operation, the department researches and proposes an online coordination mechanism to monitor the activities of fishing vessels; is ready to promptly receive and handle fishing vessels showing signs of IUU violations. In addition, proactively grasp the thoughts and aspirations of vessel owners, research and advise the ward to propose to the province policies to support the replacement of vessel engines, repair and upgrade fishing vessels to be qualified to return to fishing grounds; or research and advise on financial support plans for vessel owners to dismantle vessels to utilize materials, save anchorage locations, contribute to clearing and clearing channels, reduce the number of vessels to be managed, etc.
