Trung Tam Ward focuses on developing OCOP products

In order to effectively exploit existing potentials and advantages, promote internal resources, and increase value, in recent times, Trung Tam ward has been focusing on developing agricultural products and typical products to create brands and bring high-quality agricultural products to the market.

Trung Tam Ward was established on the basis of 3 communes: Phu Nham, Nghia Loi and Nghia Lo. Currently, in the ward, there are 7 products recognized as OCOP products: Seng Cu rice, Nghia Loi community tourism , Stevia Northwest sweet grass tea, Nghia Lo green-skinned grapefruit, Nghia Lo red-fleshed dragon fruit, Nghia Lo longan and shrimp paste with meat. Of which, 3/7 products have 4-star certification and 4/7 products have 3-star certification; 6/7 products belong to the food product group and 1/7 products belong to the community tourism service product group, eco-tourism and destination.

Immediately after the merger, Trung Tam ward set specific goals to consolidate, maintain and improve the quality of products that have been evaluated and ranked in the period 2020 - 2025, re-evaluate 3 provincial 4-star products that will expire in 2025, including: Seng Cu rice, Nghia Lo green-skinned grapefruit and Nghia Lo red-fleshed dragon fruit.

Ms. Vu Thi Thuong Hai - Head of the Economic , Infrastructure and Urban Department of Trung Tam Ward said: We will re-plan concentrated production areas, support the development of strong models, potential OCOP products, develop and improve product quality, and enhance competitiveness in the market. At the same time, OCOP products in the area have been supported in printing packaging, product labels, and product profile consulting for newly recognized products. In addition, support for establishments with products recognized as OCOP products to participate in trade promotion fairs inside and outside the province to promote and introduce products. At the same time, instructions on registering product traceability on the province's traceability portal; with QR Code, information on origin, production process, quality certification and other information related to the product... Thereby, helping products reach a wide range of consumers, increasing economic value.

At the same time, to develop OCOP products, the ward has implemented many synchronous solutions such as: implementing mechanisms and policies to integrate programs and projects; perfecting the Evaluation Council and the Council's Working Group to evaluate and classify products. In particular, the ward focuses on propaganda to raise awareness on mass media, integrating in conferences and village and hamlet meetings. Thereby, equipping knowledge, skills, and capacity in quality management, food safety, OCOP cycle, evaluation process, and classification of OCOP products for subjects and officials, civil servants monitoring the implementation of the Program in the ward.

Nguyen Thi Bich Diep, the owner of a business selling shrimp paste and meat, shared: We produce and supply shrimp paste and meat to consumers in and outside the province. The product has been known and highly appreciated by many consumers for its quality and design. Currently, the product has been certified to meet 3-star OCOP quality standards. To continue developing the product and aiming to bring the product to 4 stars, we are promoting investment in production lines, building a distinctive brand to target customer tastes and protect product trademarks. In the coming time, we will continue to invest in facilities, upgrade product designs and packaging, and bring to the market a variety of products to meet the needs and tastes of customers.

In reality, most of the OCOP products in the ward still have some limitations: Building a database for the product system is not yet synchronous and specialized; promotion has not been properly invested; trade promotion programs for products are not widespread and not connected. In addition, the procedures for re-evaluating products according to regulations are still complicated, leading to many difficulties for the subjects in building re-evaluating records; the staff monitoring the OCOP Program are not specialized and hold many positions, so they are limited in consulting and supporting the subjects.

To develop the ward's OCOP products in the coming time, comrade Dinh Van Truong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Trung Tam Ward said: First of all, re-evaluate the entire status of OCOP products in the ward, determine the potential, strengths, development capabilities and market expansion of the products, from which there will be a specific roadmap for each product. At the same time, priority will be given to focusing resources, investing in developing products that are truly strong, have clear development potential, avoid spreading, many products but not high efficiency. At the same time, build a methodical, attractive product promotion plan and create highlights for the products to be at the right level, ensuring real promotion, real products and real efficiency. In addition, assign specialized and capable staff to advise on comprehensive, synchronous and seamless product development at all stages: Product evaluation, profile building, promotion, connecting with businesses to bring products to market... Not only that, always accompany businesses to build and develop products.

With the synchronous participation of the Party Committee, government and people, certainly the OCOP products of Trung Tam ward will stand firm in the market, affirming the local brand in the hearts of domestic and foreign tourists.
