According to the Customs Department, in October 2025, the complicated developments of the world and domestic gold markets with large price differences have increased the risk of smuggling and illegal transportation of gold and currency across the border.
The subjects mainly hide gold and money in personal luggage and means of transport. On the air route through Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat international airports, there is a situation of hiding gold and money in people and carry-on luggage.
The sea route continues to account for the largest proportion of violations with 1,021/1,793 violations, accounting for 56.9% of the number of detected, arrested and handled cases. The road route has detected 542/1,793 violations, accounting for 30.2% of the number of detected, arrested and handled cases, concentrated on the Vietnam-China and Vietnam-Cambodia border routes.
The aviation route recorded 105/1,793 cases in the month, accounting for 5.85% of the number of cases detected, arrested and handled; the estimated value of violations was 122 billion VND, an increase of 39 cases compared to September 2025.

Common tricks are taking advantage of non-commercial forms, consigning goods, using fake identification documents, fake addresses, hiring people to receive on their behalf, to conceal acts of smuggling, transporting goods, currency and drugs.
From September 15 to October 14, 2025, the Customs authority detected, arrested and handled 1,793 cases (an increase of 18 cases, equivalent to 1.01% over the same period last year); the value of infringing goods is estimated at VND 1,856 billion.
State budget revenue is approximately 46.1 billion VND. The Customs Department prosecuted 1 case (down 2 cases, equivalent to 66.7% compared to the same period in 2024), and transferred 7 cases to other agencies for prosecution (down 6 cases, equivalent to 46.1% compared to the same period last year).
Accumulated from December 15, 2024 to October 14, 2025, the Customs authority has detected, arrested and handled 15,121 cases, the value of infringing goods is estimated at VND 19,551 billion; the state budget revenue reached VND 710.33 billion. Regarding the fight against drugs, from September 15 to October 14, 2025, the Customs agency presided over and coordinated with the Police and Border Guard forces to detect and arrest 13 cases/19 subjects, of which the Customs agency presided over 4 cases. The seized evidence included 24.94 kg of various drugs.
Accumulated from December 15, 2024 to October 14, 2025, the Customs agency presided over and coordinated with the Police and Border Guard forces to detect and arrest 165 cases/213 subjects, of which the Customs agency presided over 67 cases. The seized evidence was about 2,326 kg of various types of drugs.
State budget revenue from import-export activities from October 1 to October 31, 2025 reached VND 41,564 billion, an increase of 10% over the previous month (equivalent to an increase of VND 3,770 billion).
Accumulated from January 1 to October 31, 2025, the state budget revenue from import-export activities reached VND 379,816 billion, equal to 92.4% of the assigned estimate, equal to 80.8% of the target, an increase of 9.3% over the same period in 2024 (equivalent to an increase of VND 32,384 billion).
