With 24 years of establishment and development, PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation (PV Drilling) is entering a new growth phase with three strategic pillars: science and technology & innovation - digital transformation - ESG governance towards sustainable development.

International standard HSEQ - the foundation for safe and effective operations
Since its inception, PV Drilling has identified “occupational safety - health - environment - quality” as its core values. The Corporation maintains the HSEQ management system according to international standards ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015, etc., and simultaneously operates PVD Card programs, job safety analysis (JSA), unsafe work stoppage rights (SWA), work permit system (PTW), and training courses updated according to Training Matrix.
To maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of the HSEQ system, hundreds of internal, customer and certification unit inspections and assessments are conducted on rigs and onshore facilities each year. Thanks to that, PV Drilling has continuously maintained safety achievements in the oil and gas drilling industry, received high appreciation from customers and prestigious awards.
In 2025, PV DRILLING II and PV DRILLING VI rigs achieved 16 years and 10 consecutive years of Zero LTI, respectively, recognized by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). Along with that, many rigs were rewarded for their operational performance by major customers such as Petronas and Pertamina. In particular, PV DRILLING I rig was recently awarded the “Mission: Zero Possible” award by Petronas, recognizing PV Drilling’s continuous efforts in implementing projects with the highest efficiency, along with absolute safety, one of the top criteria of the oil and gas drilling industry.

In parallel, PV Drilling always pays special attention to safety culture and continuously maintains it through programs to encourage detection and reporting of unsafe behaviors (PVD Card). In just 9 months of 2025, the entire system (including on rigs, production bases/factories and offices) recorded a total of 91,751 PVD Cards, contributing to preventing risks early.
Towards Net Zero
Operating in the oil and gas drilling sector, PV Drilling proactively and comprehensively controls emissions and energy consumption through modern software such as HSEQ reporting online, helping to monitor energy, fuel and monthly emission levels on drilling rigs and onshore production facilities.
From 2022, the Corporation will implement a program to replace the lighting system with LED lights with the goal of replacing 20% of them each year. By November 2025, the completion rate of replacing LED lights at owned rigs will reach an impressive level: PV DRILLING II will reach 94%, PV DRILLING III will reach 91%, PV DRILLING I will reach 87%, TAD-PV DRILLING V will reach 78% and PV DRILLING VI will reach 58%. Thanks to that, PV Drilling will save 308 tons of DO oil each year and reduce 919.4 tons of greenhouse gases, including CO₂, CH₄, and N₂O.

In terms of environment, PV Drilling exceeded 34% of the plan to plant 100,000 trees in the period of 2022-2025, in many localities such as Can Gio, Hau Giang, Binh Thuan , Tram Chim..., contributing to ecological restoration and CO₂ absorption.
Science and technology - the driving force for growth
PV Drilling operates in the specialized field of operating drilling rigs associated with high-tech equipment, so innovation and scientific research are always considered as one of the important strategies. Since 2011, the Corporation has established the Science and Technology Development Fund (KHCN) to create a stable resource for investment in new equipment, research and technology application.
During the period 2010-2023, PV Drilling recorded 40 scientific and technological projects including 18 technical innovation initiatives, 12 research topics and 10 technology innovation projects. These projects have brought in hundreds of billions of VND in profits, while also contributing to improving PV Drilling's competitiveness when participating in bidding in the international market. Notably, PV Drilling has two initiatives awarded the VIFOTEC Awards in 2019 and 2021, and one initiative honored in the program "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic" launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
In the 2023-2025 period, the Corporation and its member units have recognized over 200 initiatives with a total value of nearly 200 billion VND. Of which, three typical topics include: (i) Design of a forced lubrication system for the TAD support rig's anchor winch; (ii) Research, design and manufacture of a specialized floor for repairing jack-up rig legs; (iii) Upgrading the Landing guide system, belley board and BOP trolley hoist on the PV DRILLING V rig. The above three topics bring a value of more than 4 million USD, contributing to improving the operational efficiency of the Corporation's rigs.

Currently, the Corporation is in the process of implementing the project "Drilling process optimization system using artificial intelligence", expected to be applied to drilling campaigns in Vietnam from 2027. The project is the first application on a drilling rig owned by Vietnam, enhancing international competitiveness by creating the highest added value for customers, fully meeting the requirements of digital transformation to a new level of PV Drilling. The application of artificial intelligence to predict parameters, early warning of abnormalities and optimizing drilling speed is considered an important step forward, in line with the trend of operating automatic drilling rigs that many of the world's leading contractors have deployed.
Previously, Maestro™ was an additional application to control drilling operations based on the Amphion™ system deployed by PV Drilling from September 2023. This system is used to help operators reduce fuel consumption while maintaining safe drilling operations. By monitoring drilling equipment in real time, Maestro™ calculates and determines the required power generation level effectively corresponding to the rig's operations and ensuring safety.
In addition, early on, PV Drilling also built and operated advanced management systems according to international standards such as ERP Oracle, Maximo for maintenance management, rig maintenance, risk management, etc. as well as fully developed regulations and processes for all production and business activities. These systems have been helping PV Drilling improve efficiency in management and operation. PV Drilling has also proactively implemented comprehensive digital transformation throughout the entire system, aiming to automate processes, increase monitoring capabilities and data transparency.

Expanding to clean energy
Not only leading in the field of oil and gas drilling in the region, PV Drilling has also proactively expanded its operations into new energy and renewable energy fields in line with the direction of energy transition and sustainable development. The Corporation is gradually participating in the supply chain of services for onshore and offshore wind power such as survey, supply of technical human resources, installation and maintenance.
Another important development direction is geothermal drilling. Since 2016, PV Drilling has provided geothermal drilling human resources to the Japanese market and has been highly appreciated by customers. This is the foundation for the Corporation to study the possibility of investing in specialized drilling rigs and expanding into the geothermal drilling market in Vietnam and the region, in the context of strong demand for renewable energy. PV Drilling also explores areas such as green hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS) and solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions for drilling rigs through equipment improvement, fuel consumption optimization and digital technology application.
PV Drilling continues to affirm its position as the leading drilling contractor in the region, accompanying Petrovietnam and the Vietnamese energy industry on the journey towards the era of green - clean - sustainable energy.
