This is an important match for the Vietnamese girls because only by winning can they hope to compete for a place in the semi-finals with Iran, a team that is also considered quite strong in the group after crushing Malaysia 6-1 before (women's football has 10 teams divided into 2 groups, each group has 5 teams. Vietnam is in the same group with Thailand, Iran, Malaysia, Hong Kong, playing a round-robin to calculate ranking points).
Because of the importance of this match, Dongbu University Stadium attracted a large number of spectators. There were more than 200 Hong Kong fans, and the Vietnamese side was not far behind when the head of the delegation, Lam Quang Thanh, asked almost the entire Vietnamese Sports delegation to come out to support the women. In addition, there were also a number of international students and representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea present to encourage the team.
With the enthusiasm of both sides, Dongbu Stadium seemed to explode as the audience from both sides shouted and cheered, creating an extremely exciting atmosphere. In response to that sentiment, both teams also contributed to a great match with many exciting, fierce and suspenseful moves from start to finish. The fans sometimes stood up, excited by the spectacular and dramatic performance of both sides.

Perhaps in that excitement combined with the pressure to win, the Vietnamese girls played a bit tensely in the first minutes and unexpectedly let Hong Kong's tallest striker, Cheung Wai Ki (11), score the lead in the 6th minute.
The early goal put even more pressure on the Vietnamese girls. However, after a few minutes of confusion, the Vietnamese women's team gradually regained their composure and organized sharp counterattacks. The Vietnamese women's attacking spearheads continuously moved, creating tricky combinations between the trio Bui Thuy An (4), Nguyen Thi Thanh (11) and Trinh Ngoc Hoa (3), causing trouble. In the 14th minute, from a beautiful counterattack, Nguyen Thi Chau (7) fired a close-range shot to equalize 1-1.
Boosted, the Vietnamese women's team played with more enthusiasm in the second half, but despite their many attacks, their finishing was not good. Time continued to pass towards the end, but the score was still tied, causing the entire Vietnamese sports delegation to start to worry.
Outside the field, team leader Tran Anh Tu was restless while coach Truong Quoc Tuan was impatiently shouting continuously. When there were only 6 minutes left in the match, Vietnam had an excellent second goal. After 2 quick passes, Nguyen Thi Thanh (who was a player of the Vietnam women's team on the outdoor field) passed the ball very well to Trinh Ngoc Hoa who came up from below the ice and finished beautifully. The whole Vietnam team jumped up and cheered happily.

In the final minutes, with nothing to lose, Hong Kong launched a fierce attack. Twice goalkeeper Kim Ngan made narrow saves and once the crossbar denied Hong Kong a goal. Those were the most thrilling moments, but in the end, Vietnam successfully defended the score 2-1.
This hard-fought victory will help Vietnam compete in the decisive match with Iran at 11:30 tomorrow, June 28. If they win, the women's Futsal team will enter the semi-finals.
On the sidelines of the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games * Bonus of 6 million VND for gold medal, 4 million VND for silver medal and 2 million VND for bronze medal at the Games. Head of delegation Lam Quang Thanh said that this is just an incentive bonus. If the achievement is particularly outstanding, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation can consider giving additional bonuses. * Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and President of the Vietnam Olympic Committee Hoang Tuan Anh will attend the opening ceremony at Samsang World Gymnasium at 6 p.m. on June 29 and encourage the Vietnamese sports delegation at AIMAG village at noon on the same day. On this occasion, the Minister will also attend a cultural festival in Korea. * Vietnam men's futsal team is very confident that they will compete for the top spot with Lebanon. After witnessing Lebanon's 11-4 win over Palestine, team leader Tran Anh Tu said that Lebanon has a modern and fast playing style but is not without weaknesses. Compared to Kuwait (the Vietnamese team won in a friendly match last year), Lebanon is not really better. However, Vietnam futsal team will try to overcome Palestine on the afternoon of June 28 and if possible, strive for a higher score to avoid having to compare goal difference. * The opening ceremony of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will last for more than 2 hours (starting at 6:40 p.m., or 4:40 p.m. Vietnam time, on the afternoon of June 29) and has been revealed by the Organizing Committee to be very colorful and have many cultural characteristics of Korea as well as Asia. This ceremony is also a rehearsal for Korea to host the ASIAD in 2014. * Thailand set a new record when they beat Bhutan 29-1 in the men's futsal match. Meanwhile, in the women's tournament, defending champions Japan only beat Uzbekistan 8-0. The biggest surprise was that host Korea was held to a 1-1 draw by Macau in the men's tournament. * The players walk to practice. Because the chess stadium is only 300m from the athletes' village, coach Lam Minh Chau let the whole team practice on foot. Vietnam's number 1 player Le Quang Liem expressed his excitement when he said: "We feel that walking will help us relax and improve our health to strive for better results for the country."
* Hoang Quy Phuoc and Nguyen Thi Anh Vien are both determined to achieve results. Both Vietnamese swimmers are considered great hopes at the Games and have shown great determination since arriving in Incheon. Phuoc said: “After a period of slowing down, I am trying to find myself again. I hope I will have good results in this tournament”. Anh Vien said: “I am confident and trying to concentrate well to compete with the best form and results”. * Billiards matches right at the press center. The press center (Main Media center) located right in the center of Incheon is a very large building of Convesion Dongo. Because it is not fully exploited, the Organizing Committee took advantage of a part of the building to make a Billiards stadium. The press was very happy because they could watch all the billiards matches just a few steps away, without having to travel far. * The competition venues are close to each other. The 9 competition venues of the 12 events at the Games are not too far apart and are also close to the athletes' village and the press center, so traveling is quite convenient. The furthest place is the bowling alley and the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, about 25 minutes from the press center. The rest is only about 10 - 15 minutes by bus to all the competition venues. Dang Khoa - Ngo Nguyen |
