Cong Phuong was called up to the Vietnam national team by coach Kim Sang-sik.

Cong Phuong and Quang Vinh were both named in the Vietnam national team for the first time under coach Kim Sang-sik. The duo are highly skilled and classy players who have shown great form in recent times.

On May 22, coach Kim Sang-sik announced the list of Vietnam's national team to prepare for the match against Malaysia in the second round of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, taking place on June 10. This is an important match in the goal of winning a ticket to the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

In addition to the names that have just won the ASEAN Cup 2024, the Korean strategist also added striker Nguyen Cong Phuong (Binh Phuoc Club) and Vietnamese-American defender Jason Quang Vinh ( Hanoi Police Club).
