Fried egg plate 110,000 VND

According to the video posted on the restaurant’s TikTok account, the fried egg dish here costs 110,000 VND/plate. The ingredients include 3 chicken eggs and a little green onion. The dish is prepared in the usual way, without any special ingredients.

After the video introducing the fried egg dish was posted, many netizens said that the price was too high for such ingredients and preparation method.

"When I found out that the restaurant was on the 3rd floor, there was no elevator, and the items were also simple, I found the high price really unreasonable. I have eaten at many restaurants in District 1, but the prices are much better," one person commented.

Another wrote: "The restaurant is located in an old apartment building, it cannot be compared to high-class restaurants. Other restaurants are expensive, but the menu and dishes are very elaborate and the ingredients are expensive, not 3 eggs with a few onions."

In response to the backlash, the restaurant owner posted a video explaining. The woman in the video (believed to be the owner) shared: “The price is expensive compared to other areas, but the restaurant is located right in the center of District 1, right on Nguyen Hue walking street, so all expenses are several times higher than other areas. Employees working in District 1 must have higher salaries.”

Make a batch of cups to... create style

In addition to the price issue, this restaurant also attracts attention for using chipped dishes to serve customers. According to the restaurant, this is intended to create a nostalgic feeling of old meals with dishes that are often no longer intact.

However, the restaurant's use of chipped bowls makes many people worry about hygiene and make them feel uncomfortable while eating.

In response to this response, the restaurant representative shared in the video: "This type of bowl is a unique style and feature of the restaurant. On the table, there are always both original and mixed bowls for customers to choose from. Every month, I change the bowls.

Who says it is disrespectful to leave broken dishes for customers to eat? The respect here is the care and affection I put into each dish. I am very respectful and grateful to every customer who comes here.

However, the information that the cups are replaced every month also makes some people doubt the practicality and think that replacing the cups so often can be wasteful.

According to information from the video posted by the restaurant, this location has been operating for over 3 years with a regular and stable number of customers.

The restaurant model is built for the group of diners who love rustic space, reminiscent of old memories, but located in the city center to serve the group of customers working and living in District 1.

The phrases "countryside food at city prices" and "right in the heart of District 1" are used by the restaurant in most of its posts.

Some dishes cost 140,000-150,000 VND/portion at the restaurant (Photo: Screenshot).

Sharing in a video, the restaurant representative said: “No customer who has come here to eat has ever complained about the price. When I chose a location in District 1 to open the restaurant, I knew who my customers were, what their needs were, and what a reasonable price was. For more than 3 years, the restaurant has been crowded every day.”

The sudden and continuous appearance of viral videos related to the 110,000 VND fried egg dish and chipped dishes recently has many people wondering why a restaurant with a stable position and a clear number of regular customers would choose to approach the public in a way that could cause controversy?

Some say it's a communication strategy to expand the customer base, while others worry that conveying controversial images will affect brand credibility.

Dan Tri reporter contacted the restaurant to learn more, but has not received a response.
