Sergei Karakayev, commander of Russia's Strategic Missile Forces, said the country plans to test-launch the new systems at their maximum range.
Russia's state news agency RIA quoted Commander Sergei Karakayev as saying, "In terms of range, there is nowhere our missiles cannot reach ." Sergei Karakayev also stated that Russia may intensify testing of advanced missile weapons if tensions continue to escalate.
For the first time publicly confirming that Russia is developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile system called Osina, Sergei Karakayev stated that deploying this weapon in combat and several other new missile systems is a top priority.
At the same time, Russia is also completing the development of missile systems similar to the new Oreshnik medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile, which President Vladimir Putin said on December 16 that Russia would soon mass-produce.
In addition, Russia's new state-level weapons development program will consider various options for developing strategic offensive weapons.
Sergei Karakayev stated that Russia's weapons program ensures that strategic missile forces are equipped with mobile missile systems. Divisions equipped with mobile missile systems will be able to inflict heavy damage on the enemy during an attack.
