Military Region 5 deploys troops for the second phase of the 'Quang Trung Campaign' to build houses for flood-affected people.

Following requests from local authorities, over the past few days, hundreds of officers and soldiers from units of Military Region 5 and the Ministry of National Defense have been ordered to the flood-affected areas to build and repair houses for the people as part of the second phase of the Quang Trung Campaign.

On the morning of December 16th, 450 officers and soldiers, divided into 37 teams and 45 groups of the 2nd Division, received orders to depart for areas in Dak Lak province to build 37 new houses for households whose homes were completely destroyed by floods.

The soldiers took on additional house construction and repair work from local residents.

Previously, the 2nd Division also deployed hundreds of officers and soldiers to flood-affected areas to build houses for people in Dak Lak during the first phase of the Quang Trung Campaign.

With this deployment order, the 2nd Division's troops are tasked with building 83 houses for civilians.

Colonel Nguyen Truong Sinh, Commander of the 2nd Division, said that in recent days, in the communes severely affected by the floods, the soldiers have been accelerating the construction of houses (phase 1) for the local people.

"We are overcoming all difficulties to build quickly, ensure quality, and strive to complete the houses on schedule as set by our superiors," said Colonel Sinh.

Lieutenant Colonel Vu Quoc Toan, Deputy Head of Political Affairs of the 315th Division, said that the unit is also coordinating with Hoa Thinh commune (Dak Lak) to survey and receive more houses to mobilize soldiers for construction during the second phase of the Quang Trung Campaign.

The survey process was conducted rigorously and targeted the right groups; prioritizing policy beneficiary households, elderly people living alone, households with particularly difficult circumstances, and cases where housing was unsafe after the floods.

Drawing lessons from the failed house construction plan for flood victims during the Quang Trung Campaign, Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai, Commander of Military Region 5, has instructed troops to urgently accelerate progress to deliver houses to the people before January 20, 2026.

Colonel Cao Van Muoi, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5, said that in the first phase, Military Region 5 mobilized 213 troops with more than 2,700 officers and soldiers to coordinate with units under the Ministry of National Defense and localities to carry out the Quang Trung Rapid Campaign.

To date, more than 400 houses, undertaken by Military Region 5 and the Ministry of National Defense, are being built at a very rapid pace. More than 48,500 officers and soldiers have been mobilized to assist the people.

Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai, Commander of Military Region 5, requested that all forces focus on construction to complete the building of houses for flood-affected people before January 20, 2026.

In addition to the projects assigned in the first phase (currently under construction), Military Region 5 also received requests from local authorities to add damaged or collapsed houses for reconstruction in phase 2.

Many units increased personnel and worked overtime to build houses during the second phase of the Quang Trung Campaign.

In localities such as Tuy An Dong commune, Dong Hoa ward... (Dak Lak), military units that received local people's houses for new construction or repairs during the first phase of the Quang Trung Campaign are now deploying additional troops for the second phase.

Meanwhile, the Military School of Military Region 5 also received additional housing to help flood victims rebuild in Dak Lak province.

On the morning of December 16th, a delegation from the Command of Naval Region 3 also departed from Da Nang to Tuy Phuoc Dong commune (Gia Lai province) to relieve shifts, reinforce personnel, and encourage the forces helping people rebuild six houses that had collapsed.
