According to the South China Morning Post on March 15, in Shenzhen city, China, a fully automatic noodle shop appeared, attracting the attention of many diners.

The noodle shop is called Future Noodle Restaurant, with an area of only 8 square meters but serves more than 10 different types of noodles: from beef noodle soup, stir-fried noodles to side dishes such as pickled eggs and grilled sausages.

The special feature of the restaurant is that the entire processing is done by robots, helping each bowl of noodles to be prepared in just 48 seconds, with starting prices ranging from only 9.9 to 20 yuan (equivalent to 35,000-70,000 VND).

Customers will order through an automated kiosk, pay and can observe the entire preparation process through a transparent window.

The robot starts by mixing water with flour, kneading the dough, pressing it into pieces and cutting it into noodles within 8 seconds. Then, beef and noodles are added to the bowl, hot water is poured in and the whole dish is cooked in 40 seconds.

Finally, a robotic arm serves up a hot bowl of noodles, topped with green onions.

The company behind the technology is Wanjie Intelligent, founded in 1996 in Henan Province, China. It took them 10 years to develop the automatic noodle-making machine, which costs around 330,000 yuan (US$46,000) each.

Equipped with more than 20 types of blades, the machine can create many different types of noodles in just 8 seconds and is capable of making 120 bowls of noodles per hour. Thanks to its 24/7 continuous operation, this system significantly reduces labor costs.

Currently, the company's automatic noodle making machines have been widely deployed nationwide, appearing in supermarkets and office buildings.

The convenience and reasonable price make this noodle shop attract a lot of customers. Many diners commented that the food has a delicious taste, the beef is also very fresh and tender.

“This is the most value-for-money restaurant. A bowl of beef noodles outside normally costs around 20 yuan,” one person praised.

However, some people also expressed concerns about robots replacing humans in the culinary industry and that robots could take away the "soul" of the dish.

“AI should focus on hard jobs like space exploration or rescue, rather than replacing things humans are already good at,” one commenter said.

In fact, the trend of automation in the food and service industry is not uncommon in China and around the world .

Previously in 2015, British technology company Moley Robotics launched the world's first robot kitchen, which can prepare simple dishes.

In China earlier this year, a robotic exoskeleton was deployed on Mount Taishan in Shandong Province to assist tourists climbing the mountain. Additionally, in Shenzhen, humanoid robots have begun patrolling the streets alongside police.
