USD exchange rate today, June 6: The USD fell against the Euro, after the European Central Bank (ECB) signaled that it could pause its year-long policy easing cycle, while US economic data showed the labor market was weakening amid the economy under increasing pressure from tariffs.

USD exchange rate today June 6, 2025 on the world market
The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 98.64 - down 0.09 points compared to June 5, 2025.

The dollar's weakness is an extension of a recent weak trend, with the dollar down nearly 10% against the euro year-to-date.
“This is a reflection of the overall negative sentiment that is currently pervading the greenback and could continue into the upcoming non-farm payrolls report,” said Shaun Osborne, chief currency strategist at Scotiabank.
The dollar was also under pressure after data showed new U.S. jobless claims rose for a second straight week last week, a sign of a slowing labor market as the economy comes under increasing pressure from tariffs.
However, the claims data does not impact the closely watched US Labor Department jobs report, due out on Friday, as it falls outside the survey period.
According to a Reuters survey, the US non-farm sector in May may have increased by 130,000 jobs, lower than the increase of 177,000 in April. The unemployment rate is forecast to remain unchanged at 4.2%.
“Evidence of a cooling labor market is starting to build, lowering expectations ahead of tomorrow’s jobs report and putting downward pressure on yields,” said Karl Schamotta, chief strategist at Corpay.
