Today's world military (July 28) has the following content: Turkey officially announced an agreement to sell KAAN aircraft to Indonesia; Russia tested a new unmanned combat robot; The largest US military shipbuilding corporation HII launched the Virginia-class submarine Arkansas.
* Türkiye sells 48 KAAN aircraft to Indonesia
According to Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), at the IDEF 2025 International Defense Exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey officially announced a defense agreement to sell 48 KAAN fifth-generation fighter jets to Indonesia.

The agreement includes comprehensive cooperation in manufacturing techniques, technology transfer and local assembly. This is the largest defense export contract in Türkiye's history and marks a significant milestone for the country's defense industry as it officially enters the global fighter jet market.
The contract will involve direct Indonesian involvement in the production process, joint engineering and local assembly capabilities. The 10-year delivery schedule demonstrates Indonesia’s commitment to self-reliant modernization and deepens bilateral defense cooperation.
KAAN is Türkiye’s first indigenously developed fifth-generation fighter aircraft. Designed to perform multi-role missions in contested airspace, KAAN incorporates features such as stealth, internal weapons bays, advanced AESA radar, artificial intelligence-based avionics, infrared search and track (IRST) sensors, and advanced electronic warfare systems.
Indonesia considered Rafale and Eurofighter, but ultimately chose KAAN because of its long-term co-production capabilities, technological independence, and neutrality in the geopolitical balance.
Through this landmark deal, Türkiye has asserted its position as an emerging aerospace power, while presenting KAAN as a competitive option and counterweight to Western-origin aircraft in the international market.
* Russia tests new unmanned combat robot
Recently, a new unmanned combat robot named Shturm appeared for the first time in Russian field tests in a complete configuration, including a remote-controlled attack vehicle and a command-and-control vehicle, both developed based on the improved chassis of the T-72 tank.
Developed by Uralvagonzavod on behalf of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the system is designed to lead offensive operations in high-risk environments, especially in urban areas. The fact that it appears in its final configuration suggests that the project has entered a new testing phase after years of sporadic announcements and individual component testing.

Images from recent field tests confirm that the Shturm system currently consists of at least two main components: a remotely controlled robotic combat vehicle (with or without a crew) and a mobile command post built on the chassis of a T-72 or T-90 tank. This is the first time the entire robotic complex (control vehicle and combat vehicle working together) has been seen publicly during testing.
The combat vehicle is equipped with a shortened 125mm D-414 main gun, an automatic loader and a 7.62mm PKTM coaxial machine gun. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a frontal dozer blade for clearing obstacles and a comprehensive defense system against anti-tank weapons.
The command vehicle, mounted on a tank chassis, serves as a mobile remote control station. Its mission is to coordinate a platoon of robotic combat vehicles within a 3km radius. Similar to the combat vehicle, the command vehicle is also equipped with a comprehensive protection system against infantry anti-tank weapons.
The Shturm has several different combat configurations. In addition to the main gun variant, there are other variants equipped with the RPO-2 Shmel-M thermobaric gun system, the 30mm 2A42 automatic cannon, the PKTM machine gun, and 16 220mm unguided thermobaric rockets, capable of hitting an area of up to 25,000m 2 .
All variants are equipped with a dozer blade and a comprehensive RPG protection system covering the entire body. Remote-controlled, these vehicles can reach speeds of up to 40km/h.
* HII launches Virginia-class submarine Arkansas

Arkansas is the 27th Virginia-class submarine and will be the 13th to be delivered by Newport News.
The Virginia class, also known as the SSN-774 class, is a class of nuclear-powered attack submarines armed with cruise missiles and currently in service with the United States Navy. The submarines possess a number of advanced combat capabilities, providing increased firepower, maneuverability, and stealth. The class is designed to perform a variety of missions, including anti-submarine warfare (ASW), intelligence gathering, and other special operations.
The Virginia-class submarines are expected to replace the aging Los Angeles-class attack submarines, as well as four Ohio-class variant cruise missile submarines.
